I know I’m preaching to the choir here but it still amazes me how many people link to X accounts/posts for stuff and genuinely don’t seem to realize people without accounts can’t see it most of the time

I wonder if anyone has written a book analyzing the different design features of the various baseball stadiums in the MLB.
Baseball is definitely an interesting sport where the baseball fields can vary. You can't do that with most other sports except... auto racing(?) because with racing the track is part of the challenge itself.
I've been told that the Brewers current stadium had its field design influenced by their hall of famer Robin Yount who wanted it to be a "hitter's field". There are some interesting aspects like how there are sections that cut deeper
Another thing that stands out is the width of the "warning track" along the edges. The standard is supposed to be 15 feet. Some stadiums have it as short as 6 feet according to this MLB page I was looking at.
But I can't find an official measurement for the Brewers'. My aunt tells me that it's wider and it disorients outfielders trying to catch near the wall. It definitely looks wider than 15ft to me.
Looks like pretty large foul territory though. That works against hitters because their foul pop-ups will tend to get caught rather than finding the seats.

@mgifford I think I agree with you that this sounds more like a feature of the user agent than the website.
Adding and changing a share target is much easier there and with a bit of clever design it would work with any reachable page or resource, not just those web pages where the authors thought of adding share buttons
There's a lot of software out there that I wish was written in a different language / used a different architecture etc but at the end of the day it's better that it exists than having nothing

@fireborn I didn't know this guy's track record, until i kept seeing posts mentioning that name on local. I look at local all the time, and i noticed the vibe was off. Instead of interesting stuff, i just saw people talking about this Ramon guy, and i wanted to figure it out. A post somed it up, and thats where the conversation started. If you want to go fancier, tie things in the output to the input and provide suggestions on where things are missing pre-expansion for the output to march the expectation. I feel like 90% of this can be accomplished today with tmux+a file watcher+direct rustc invocations using -Zunpretty=expanded, but it'd be lovely to have an actual tool for this.

There’s something there around giving moms / aunts jewellery or handbags, maybe, but like ‘I’m going to give you a ticket to this event’ or ‘I am going to give you a random candle or sock’ would probably be met with confusion.
Anyway, American gift giving culture is really confusing to me and I have never once sat down to think ‘I wonder what this person would want!!’

I'm a white American, and I don't like American gift-giving culture. Of course, one factor is that I'm a nerd, so I'm hard to buy gifts for. Especially now that I'm an adult with money, if I want something, I'll just buy it myself.

In Google Wallet, if the card is not among the listed businesses, you have to do weird things... That forced me to set library cards under weird business names, and it sucks. But since I changed to Catima, I can have it all neatly organised and customised! 🥰
