#Catima 2.39.0 is out!

github.com/CatimaLoyalty/Andro…

This release targets Android 16 and fixes a crash. Sadly, Google removed support for controlling screen orientation, so this functionality had to be removed.

Catima now also includes ACRA in the FOSS release for crash reporting. If a crash occurs, a dialog will appear to ask you to report the crash. Reports are never sent automatically and you can always review it.

#Catima 2.38.0 is out!

github.com/CatimaLoyalty/Andro…

This release adds support for .pkpasses, removes the Stocard importer (as Stocard no longer exists) and removes images from the widget below Android 12L.

Do note that the widget change is not what we want. If anyone understands this crash and has a fix, I'd love to hear it, so we can support images on all Android versions: github.com/CatimaLoyalty/Andro…

Excited to announce #Catima is in the top 5% of most popular apps on #IzzyOnDroid, ranking place 62 of 1307.

Even more excited to see our new IzzyOnDroid download statistics, supported by #NLNet, land in #NeoStore!

Curious as to how it works? It's actually pretty simple! Server logs are fed, per server, into codeberg.org/IzzyOnDroid/iod-s… and the results are summarized using codeberg.org/IzzyOnDroid/iod-s…, creating easy to consume JSON files. Then, Neo Store consumes them :)

Have you seen the new #Catima logo already? It's so cute we had to make an Arcticons version of it.

#Catima 2.37.0 is out!

This release features a redesigned logo, kindly contributed by il-Luca (github.com/il-Luca) and Aeven-Dev (github.com/aeven-dev).

The redesign was kept very close to the original design from TangentFoxy (github.com/TangentFoxy), to try to not affect people's ability to recognize the app in their app drawer.

#Catima 2.36.0 is out!

In this release we added a card list widget, one of the most requested features since the project was started!

We hope to extend the widget in the future to allow you to choose which cards you want to show and how you want them sorted.

100K. One hundred thousand. That's a lot of #Catima users! And happy users, it seems, looking at that 4.5 star rating ❤️

Just, wow, I never expected my little hobby app to reach 100K active users, and that's just on #GooglePlay, still excluding other app stores like #IzzyOnDroid, #FDroid, direct downloads from #GitHub and sketchy app piracy sites (please don't use that last one, for your own safety 😅)!

Very cool :)

I missed the 75k user mark, #Catima is already at 82k users on #GooglePlay. Pretty cool! :)

#Catima 2.35.1 is out! This is a very boring release, just containing some dependency and translation updates. It also adds 1 new community-contributed language: Persian.

If your favourite language is not (completely) supported, consider contributing on hosted.weblate.org/projects/ca… (no AI or "Google Translate" translations please, nobody is helped by low-quality translations filled with errors).

#Catima 2.35.0 is out!

This release lets you further tweak the barcode size in the fullscreen view and slightly improves barcode finding reliability when scanning or loading a barcode from an image or PDF file. It also fixes a crash when trying to load a pkpass file without a barcode in it.

Locked out of #Stocard? Considering switching to an app like #Catima? You may be able to still access your Stocard cards directly!

According to Italian video creator "IT Problem Solver", it seems Stocard's expiry is based on device time. So: change your phone's date, screenshot those barcodes, and add them to Catima! :) youtube.com/watch?v=hrsEiMjoQT…

Alternatively, if you have the patience and live in Europe, email support@stocardapp.com to ask for an export of your data and import it directly!

#Catima 2.34.5 is out!

This is a maintenance release that targets Android 15 and fixes a crash.

The app will look slightly uglier on some devices, due to Google's changes in how drawing over the system and navigation bar works. Sadly, supporting proper edge-to-edge requires extensive rewrites (help very welcome!), so I opted to at least ensure we target Android 15 before any deadlines.

#catima 2.34.4 is out!

This reverts Catima to targetSdk 34 (Android 14) for now, to fix the UI regressions introduced in Catima 2.34.3.

It also includes the fixes in 2.34.3 and a new little feature to sort your cards by the "valid from" date, useful for things like train tickets.

TIL #Catima is apparently mirrored onto #RuStore through #Aptoide, or so someone reported: github.com/CatimaLoyalty/Andro…

Few problems with that: I have no control over the RuStore listing, nor do I control the Aptoide listing. Both may very well be malware.

It should go without saying: don't download apps from sketchy unofficial "app stores" and other APK download sites.

#Catima 2.34.0 is out!

This release adds support for #Passbook (#pkpass) files, commonly used for event tickets and more!

It also contains some other minor fixes and better handling of image thumbnails (especially transparent ones).

On the end-user side, this release probably doesn't look that different, but it contains some major code refactoring. It is also the first release with #Kotlin code in it.

#Catima 2.33.0 is out!

This release contains some minor tweaks and some user-contributed features and fixes, most notably the ability to choose the amount of columns to display in the home screen and a fix to retain the search state when rotating the screen or opening a card.

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to take another stab at implementing #Passbook (#pkpass) support in #Catima.

It's going okay but I'm having trouble hunting down test cases, especially test cases with localized strings.

Do you have any .pkpass file you're willing to share with me? If so, please send them to me and tell me if you're okay with me including them in Catima unit tests. Feel free to censor things before sending (but please tell me what you censored).

Thanks!

Catima 2.29.0 is out!

This release adds support for finding barcodes in PDF files[1] and dealing with multiple barcodes. It also properly colours the status bar during usage now.

As always, it's available on #GitHub, will soon be available on #IzzyOnDroid and will slowly roll out to other app stores.

#Catima 2.27.0 is out!

Honestly a fairly small release, mostly small UI tweaks and a minor bugfix. But that's fine, it's great when software updates are boring without major changes so there is nothing new to learn :)

Available on #GitHub right now, on #IzzyOnDroid within 24 hours and on other stores when they update (see the FAQ on catima.app for details).

Hope y'all enjoy it :)

#Catima 2.25.0 is out!

This release improves the barcode rendering code and supports allowing third party apps to read your cards after they request access, allowing #Gadgetbridge to work with Catima in their next release.

This feature is enabled by default as it requires apps to explicitly ask for access through Android permissions. However, if you feel certain you never want to allow other apps access to your cards at all, you can disable it in settings.

#Catima has reached 35k active users on #GooglePlay, holding fairly strong at a 4.6 star average. Pretty cool how it keeps growing.

As always, I have no stats for #FDroid as they do not track active installations.
