Little Johnny overheard his friends talking about how adults have secrets they’re desperate to keep hidden, and how easy it was to manipulate them. Intrigued, Johnny decided to try it out himself.
When he got home, he walked up to his mom with a sly grin and said, “Mom, I know everything.”
His mom’s face went pale. She glanced around nervously, then leaned in, shushed him, and handed him $10. “Just don’t tell your father, okay?” she whispered.
Johnny’s eyes widened in amazement. This works! he thought.
An hour later, his dad came home from work. Johnny walked up to him confidently and said, “Dad, I know everything.”
His dad’s expression froze, and he quickly pulled out his wallet. Handing Johnny $100, he said in a low voice, “Let’s keep this between us, alright? Don’t tell your mom.”
Johnny could hardly contain his excitement. This is incredible!
A little while later, there was a knock at the door. Johnny opened it to see the mailman standing there. With a mischievous grin, Johnny said, “I know everything.”
The mailman’s face turned ghostly white. His jaw dropped, and his eyes filled with tears. After a long pause, he said, “Well… if you know everything, Johnny, come give your real dad a hug.”

I upgraded an app from using #Gradle 8.13 to version 9.2.1. Not because I wanted to, I dread upgrading Gradle, but because I needed it to work with Java 25.
Predictably, my build definition (`build.gradle.kts`) broke, with some deprecated APIs being removed. This isn't some coincidence, Gradle's APIs get deprecated all the time, nothing's safe.
I don't think I have ever upgraded Gradle without noticing source compatibility breakage. I can't think of any other API I've used that's worse.

#chatmail might be a new way to deliver email but it's not a new way to deliver mail :)
"Poste restante" or "general delivery" or "waiting mail" is a mode where one can send a message to a name or, in some countries, pseudonym, @ a post office address and then someone else can come and get it, showing their name or pseudonym (passphrase). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poste_re…
Curious, which of you know/have used the poste restante mode of delivering postal mail at one point in your life?
- used "poste restante" delivery multiple times (6%, 14 votes)
- Used poste restante once (3%, 8 votes)
- Heard of it but didn't use (27%, 65 votes)
- Never heart of it. (62%, 146 votes)

oddly under-the-cover project, isn't it? not even showing in search engines. I wonder why

what is a better funding model for Mozilla than ads, search engine deals (now going away), or getting ahead of the AI business and building something like this?
Where are all the passionate Mozilla fans/users who want to shape its future and knows exactly how to generate enough revenue to support the project? They never seem to materialize
also to be fair, they're not hiding this from search engines. Their robots.txt is wide open

this sounds fascinating, I’ve been slightly intrigued by multi line graphical brow displays but didn’t want to pay out like the Bajillion dollar price tag on the other ones.
How much was this?
Also, I’m curious how this might produce a visual PDF for example. Like in my case, a LEGO friend booklet visual PDF

Ever wonder why the "vi" editor uses H, J, K, and L keys for cursor navigation, and why Unix shells traditionally use "~" as an alias for the home directory?
The ADM-3A terminal was a very popular and inexpensive Unix terminal in the 1970s. Notice where the arrow keys are, and where the "~" key is? It influenced a lot!
