Today I made the best kind of progress on #gnome's new quick settings.
Namely: I decided that the bit that would make a fragile and complicated part more fragile and complicated isn't needed after all, and what I had done to mock up the missing bit is a valid option for a proper implementation.
And voilá, 10 minutes later I have working code that I'm genuinely happy with:

I love the system-wide light/dark mode support in GNOME 42. And wouldn’t it be even better if light mode extended to the system elements too?
Elliott Shugerman has made a great start on this so I just opened an issue to encourage the GNOME devs to consider it as inspiration.

Case it point, the text in my image was revealed by @janale about fifteen minutes after my original post.
Warning: There’s an app for blurring out sensitive information in images called Obfuscate being featured on #GNOME Software right now.
Please be careful.
The default blur setting can easily be reversed.
The default should be to replace the areas with a solid colour or a pattern not derived from the underlying information.
This really should not be a featured app in its current state.
To celebrate the fact that I can finally use all the theoretical bandwidth for which I'm paying my ISP, today's stream is going to be a deep dive on GObject—how does it work, and why. If you're interested, tune in at 4pm BST/15:00 UTC on twitch.tv/ebassi

(This is a valid, decentralised way of distributing software that doesn’t require centralised services like Flathub, etc. and should be supported as a first-class citizen in free and open operating systems.)

My last #introduction was in 2018, so let's update it:
- I'm a free and open source software developer, mainly contributing to the #GNOME ecosystem and software development platform
- I am, through no fault of my own, the maintainer of the GNOME developer documentation website
- I write the occasional app, like Amberol
- I stream my work on Twitch: twitch.tv/ebassi
- I still plan on finishing the History of GNOME podcast
- I build #gundam plastic models
- trans rights are human rights
