"Screen readers do not need to be saved by AI"
TetraLogical's @craigabbott has written a post on his own blog exploring why we shouldn’t expect screen readers to be augmented with AI to fix problems with bad content.
The real problem is producing inaccessible content from the start, such as misusing emojis, poor descriptions, or unclear writing.

As a community that includes folks with a range of disabilities ourselves, we’re deeply invested in improving access to Open Source software. We succeed at our mission when we build open computing experiences that are available regardless of ability and fail when accessibility is considered an afterthought or a nice-to-have. This month and always, Inclusive Design is at the core of what we do and we will continue to strive towards that ideal
In today’s digital world, mobile apps are a cornerstone of how we interact, shop, bank, work, and entertain ourselves. But for millions of users with disabilities, these apps can be a frustrating barrier rather than a seamless experience.Michael Beck (AFixt)

Honored. Inspired. Driven.
Last week at #CSUN2025, we had the incredible opportunity to connect, learn, and grow alongside some of the most innovative minds in accessibility and assistive technology. As a fully remote team, gathering in person is always meaningful, but being part of conversations that shape the future of our technology makes it even more special.
We’re grateful for the chance to hear from industry leaders, learn from fellow innovators, and connect with Explorers (both new and those who have been here from the start) who shape the work we do every day. Having a seat at this table is an honor, and we’re more committed than ever to making Aira the best it can be.
Thank you, Center on Disabilities at CSUN, for another unforgettable year!

Calling all #WordPress users, especially those passionate about #Accessibility! I need advice: My current contact form on this page of my #Website (laniecarmelo.tech/connect-with…) is very basic. I'm using WPForms Lite, but improving it would require manually adding fields since advanced features are locked behind their premium plan.
I’ve tried the Fluent Forms plugin, but I didn’t find it accessible. Can anyone recommend a free, #Accessible contact form plugin that allows for creating more robust forms? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Even if you don't code, this is essay presents a solid case on why #AI can't be relied on to replace work requiring any degree of empathy and nuanced understanding
Specifically, if you're building accessible web-based experiences, @hdv explains why "outsourcing" this work create more harm than good and offers some better alternatives to focus on instead (hint: invest in a #DesignSystem)
