I have applied for @nlnet grants and more (like, commercial companies such as Native Instruments, the company behind Traktor) to work on improving such things (e.g. @mixxx which is featured in the presentation) with funding, unsuccessfully, but at least someone was able to give a presentation on such things!

Is the reason why programmers don't like using spaces in filenames that shell scripts, and interactive shells in particular, are total garbage at handling them?
Like, any "normal" programming language handles them just fine without thinking about them, I think. But not shell scripts.

I want to start by apologizing for the inconvenience caused by the recent downtime. Unfortunately, tech issues can occur unexpectedly, and today happens to be one of those days.
The current problem stems from our database servers going offline. These servers are managed by our provider, Linode, who handle backups and maintenance. Linode has informed us that the cluster is in a degraded state, but they are working to restore it as quickly as possible.
We have implemented code in the client that generates a local key, which is intended to function for up to two days if our servers become unreachable. However, this feature isn't performing as expected and will be investigated promptly. The current setup requires our servers to respond to the application when it requests a license, which unfortunately isn’t happening right now.
To mitigate the impact, we’ve put a temporary solution in place that allows the necessary data for the client to work. However, please note that this will only work for users who are already logged in to their TweeseCake account via the application; new logins won’t be possible until the issue is fully resolved.
Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We’re working hard to get everything back up and running as soon as possible.

hey #Germany so my autistic child's school is tripling down on not let her wear noise-cancelling headphones despite the fact that her class is super noisy, nobody cares.
questions in order of urgency:
1. Do you recommend any discreet earplugs and where do I get them?
2. Even without a formal autism diagnosis, is it doable to get a random therapist or something to write a piece of paper that proves that my child is not making up stuff when she says that the class noise brings her to breakdown?
3. I know this is the hell country of infinite bureaucracy, but is there any reasonable way to get the dang formal diagnosis, on public insurance, without waiting until she's like out of university for the first appointment? Kid is 17, not fluent in German, and has a typical 'autism in girls' presentation (by which I mean, not the 'autistic' sterotype that uninformed doctors expect).

Android FOSS developers, please check if any of your dependencies are downloaded from JCenter or repo.spring.io. Both of those have shut down, resulting in failing (reproducible) builds (though you may not notice if you still happen to have them cached locally).
Many have moved to maven central, where a newer version may be available. But many others have simply become unavailable.
If you are the upstream of such dependencies, please publish them to maven central.

in reply to Mixxx DJ Software • • •I don't know what they mean by "compatibility modes" Phase already functions with Mixxx given that Mixxx already supports e.g. Serato timecode (which Phase mimics via RCA jacks) but MWM (the company behind Phase) is not exactly forthcoming about a lot technical details to folks such as I, even though I preordered the friggin thing (in hopes I would have it for an invite I had to deejay in 2018, it wasn't delivered to me until 2019).
IMHO, if they redesigned their battery layout, they could probably have it in the form factor of a 12" disc, but I provided such a suggestion and I haven't seen even the slightest inkling they are looking to iterate their hardware.
Moreover, I get the impression some might want to use it as a turntable "calibration" device (e.g. to measure wow/flutter) but that is just me thinking weird things probably.
