Looking for an #artist on the Fediverse who's accepting #commissions right now.
I need a logo for my FOSS project. The current logo is a placeholder I threw together so I'm looking for anything that's more stylish/creative. Here's the current logo and the only real requirement I have is that the K and the VM stand out since it's supposed to be a play on Linux KVM.
If you're interested please provide a portfolio of previous works you've done (preferably logos, but anything with text in it will do) and a quote if possible.
Payment can be made via PayPal, Ko-Fi, CashApp, or credit card.
Thanks!

An overview of reviews made with MapComplete – 2025 edition
Two years ago, I did an analysis on the reviews made with mangrove.reviews – you can find this analysis here.
In this blog, I’ll basically do the same analysis as then, but just with the latest data (as of 28 febr 2025).
Mangrove.reviews client breakdown
| Total | 2175 |
| mangrove.reviews | 834 |
| mapcomplete.org | 798 |
| toggenburg.swiss | 229 |
| thurgau-bodensee.ch | 70 |
| ostschweiz.ch | 55 |
| heidiland.com | 42 |
| wengen.swiss | 27 |
| open-reviews.net | 20 |
| winterthur.com | 15 |
| beta.localtownguide.com | 11 |
| open-reviews.orderingstack.com | 13 |
| jungfrauregion.swiss | 10 |
As is visible, about one third of all reviews came from mapcomplete, only a fraction less then mangrove.reviews itself.
It is also surprising that there are quite a few swiss websites in there.
Map themes
The most popular themes to create reviews were:
- Food: 271 reviews
- Shops: 117 reviews
- Cafes and pubs: 84
- Playgrounds: 53
- Pets: 42
- Toerisme vlaanderen (commissioned and hidden theme): 30
- Cyclofix: 26
- Campersite: 23
- Fritures: 21
- Personal theme: 21
No big surprises here, seems like food is by far the most popular theme to give reviews on.
Language
From the reviews that had a text, the language breakdown is pretty much in line with the changeset-language statistics.
- English: 102
- Dutch: 42
- German: 37
- Russian: 14
- French: 12
Locations
The MapComplete-reviews are geographically clustered in Europe and the US – not surprisingly where the biggest and well-connected popuplations live.
However, South America and South-East-asia are starting to popup as well.
Flanders is overrepresented in Europe. MapComplete is mainly developed there and had a few projects going on there, so there are more reviews.
Conclusion
The reviews work and there is a slow but stable growth in the number of them. The results are predictable and, dare I say it, downright boring.
It must be said that the reviews have gotten a higher visibility in the MapComplete UI, which definitively helped to get more reviews.
The script to calculate the analysis is here

Trump's KGB codename:
@hub Yeah, probably, but they are different posts from different people and not exclusively about the same thing. (Although most are.)
This metadata itself (lots of messages about Trump) even implies, "You might want to actually see what's going on this time."
It's usually not quite this bad.
what it could do is "X post filter with keyword BADWORD" and have a "more" and it'll show them without the content.
Lots of small thing could be do to improve UX.
I do wonder how many women are happy with how male/female washrooms. It really isn't uncommon to find long lines outside of women's washrooms at busy times. I'm just regularly surprised at how people want to defend a system that is already clearly broken. It isn't like we've always had sex segregated bathrooms:

Gajim 2.0.0 has been released 🎉
Gajim migrated its user interface toolkit to GTK 4, which brings performance improvements and sets the ground for great features to follow. ⏩
Additionally, this release brings improved image previews, better tools for fighting spam, and much more.
All of these changes were only possible by touching a lot of Gajim’s code base, and we appreciate all the feedback we got from you. ❤️

As a person who refused to use either, all I know is what I've heard:
People wanted Skype, but Microsoft kept pushing everyone to go to Teams instead and people hated Teams because it was broken and not ready for general release still now 7 years later, so people quit using either and thus the rise of the horribly insecure Zoom which nobody should have used, so now to get even more people to stop using its products,
"Microsoft is shutting down Skype after over two decades [...] as tech giant says it will focus on Teams"
theguardian.com/technology/202…
Maaaybe it would have been better for everyone if Microsoft just... didn't buy Skype just to ruin and now cancel it?
But then again, the reason why I refused to use Skype was the backdoors, sooo guess it's a good thing it dies.
Have you heard of signal.org yet?

Internet calling service that disrupted landline industry to close in May as tech giant says it will focus on TeamsJohana Bhuiyan (The Guardian)
@menelion Nowadays Signal has group video calls support.signal.org/hc/en-us/ar… too.
Otherwise there is also Jitsi, but its hosting of the platform requires at least one video conference participant must use either an account of Google or of Microsoft (GitHub) for the conference to start, but since Jitsi is open source it can be self-hosted and seemingly then not have those account requirements.
The short answer: Signal.
