Here are some great alternatives to mainstream services: tutanota.com/blog/posts/how-to…

I dug out my communication with #LastPass from 2018. I continuously prompted them to update the iteration count for existing accounts, they kept stalling. Originally I wanted to disclose their vulnerabilities only after they fixed this, yet I ended up publishing with the migration still “in progress” according to their claims. As we know now, it likely didn’t even start back then, and they never actually finished this migration. So now many of their users are at a heightened risk in the #LastPassBreach.

I am absolutely flabbergasted at the massive failure that comes to light now. Didn’t want to write any more, but… Well, one more blog post.

READ THIS: Smart guy turns his cargo e-bike into a snow plow.

“I estimate that by using it instead of a trade van, I have avoided roughly 30 tonnes of CO2…

His route took him by municipal hall, where he cleared the sidewalk and the bike lane.

He wanted to make the point that the municipality needs to rethink its car-centric perspective to snow clearing, which often ignores the needs of pedestrians.”

It has been 2 months since I and two others raised serious accessibility issues (bugs) with Google Chrome’s web•dev tool-tips tutorial and they have done fuck-all about it (except ask for free labor):

Today's principle is Ujima, "collective work and responsibility."

Short and sweet: If your pro-Blackness dehumanizes the further marginalized, it's fucking trash. Looking at you, hoteps.

Which makes an awkward segue into Queer Kwanzaa, or Kuchu Qwanzaa, "a 7-day celebration and expression of Black LGBTQIA+ cultural principles, values, and ideals."

I spend my last days to rewrite my serial to virtual midi bridge tool in rust. Bye bye python! I also used the time to overhaul the appearance of the project and move to @Codeberg !

In case you are interested in building midi controllers with Arduinos or other simple microcontrollers that can't do usb midi, check it out :)

Mastodon není na prodej :) "Rochko told the Financial Times he had received offers from more than five US-based investors to invest 'hundreds of thousands of dollars' in backing the product, following its fast growth. But he said the platform’s non-profit status was 'untouchable', adding that Mastodon’s independence and the choice of moderation styles across its servers were part of its attraction."

Music 2022: Slower stuff

It's hard to characterize these tracks. I listen to these, when I need something less energetic, more relaxing, maybe a bit sad. This time Top 4. 😁

Slonovrat 🐘 je za námi, zeměplocha se přes svátky zase o kus pootočila. Z vlaku to nevypadá špatně.

NVDA 2022.4 RC1, is now available. We encourage all users to download this RC and provide feedback. Unless any critical bugs are found, this will be identical to the final 2022.4 release. For more info & to download this patch release, please go to: nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2022-4r…

This is a carbonized loaf of bread from Pompeii, 79 C.E. - preserved for thousands of years in the volcanic ashes of Mount Vesuvius. The baker left his stamp, which reads: “Celer, slave of Quintus Granius Verus." Celer is known to have survived the eruption, as his name later appears on a list of "freed men." Most bread at the time was baked in community ovens, so customized stamps were used to mark individual families’ and bakeries’ loaves.

KDE desperately needs a stopthemingmy.app equivalent for Plasma.

I opened Dolphin on stock GNOME in dark mode on Fedora (Fedora ships Adwaita-Qt theme). The first thing I see is this [see image].

This is not nice. All I wanted to do is test something in Dolphin. Now I can't use it due to styling issues.

Please ship applications the way developers intended to be used. If users want to break their system, then let them. But don't break it for them.

This is unacceptable.

I just spent most of christmas eve finishing up with flatpakking @AsahiLinux's Mesa fork.... and I think I've got it to the final stretch of being able to be used.

Big thanks to @refi64, especially for figuring out builds on x86_64 *and* aarch64, along with self-updating metadata.

Rant about bigotry in "cool" FOSS projects

It's such a shame when cool projects are maintained by bigots.

I wanted to give Hyprland a try, since I love the (technical) direction it's going. Sadly, the maintainers are transphobic and will treat you like garbage if you are a trans person. @orowith2os, a great friend of mine, shared some screenshots about the bigotry on the Discord server that made me reconsider my decision.
