@glaroc True, but that has a different purpose than this one. NVDA Remote is a standalone solution while this add-on adds support for remote protocols like Microsoft Remote Desktop, Citrix and VMware Horizon.
@bgtlover Yes. Data flows over a virtual channel in the remote desktop connection, not a separate channel that requires a server or opening a port like with NVDA Remote.
@pvagner I did make a windows vm, however the problem is that I don't remember enough windows stuff to get to the point where I start a remote desktop session, I keep reaching for a terminal that's not there.
Really grateful for the help of @twynn who got the add-on working with VMware Horizon, though it needs some polishing due to occational connection dropouts. Nonetheless, this is amazing!
@twynn Well, having a company device is usually better than VDI IMO, especially for blind people who need their screen reading software to work in these environments.
Oh for sure, and I look forward to it, but it's funny that your add-on started existing at the tail end of my VDI use. It means that stress-testing probably won't happen on my end, though even when I was using VDI, it was just for payroll purposes. Everything else I used external services which are available outside their intranet. Best practices it wasn't, but it definitely kept me more efficient.

And what if I'm not comfortable using Microsoft Github? They don't have a way to vote on the issue without getting an account on a Microsoft website, something I routinely avoid?

What impact, if any, does this work have on accessibility? Is there yet a standard way to tell screen readers that the equivalent of a new page load has happened, so the screen reader can provide its desired UX for SPA navigations, rather than the application having to provide its own off-screen ARIA live region announcement or focus something that shouldn't be focusable?

I feel like they just need to fully embrace their likely React-based interface and make that more accessible, then make the bits that don't use it use that instead. My biggest gripes are unlabelled HTML elements, and the installation/launch dialogs are completely graphical and not HTML-based at all. I guess they could use AccessKit for those, but it'd probably be easier to just run them in the WebView.
Though I certainly wouldn't complain if they went full AccessKit either. Or maybe Epic could migrate their store to it.
Like for instance, I was using -gamepadui to switch to the new more accessible gamepad UI. Except apparently that command line option is gone, and now has to be enabled through the less-than-accessible settings interface. I did this on my desktop, but it's also been reverted on the Deck, and I have to figure out how to get back into settings again. I'm sure I can, I'd just prefer point-and-click games to a point-and-click life. :)
