It turns out that on #Bookwyrm, anyone's book edits federate to other instances without instance admins knowing about it. This is particularly bad because I often find that my created books are modified on my shelf, so I finish reading a paperback, but my yearly read at the end of the year contains a coverless audio book, which has no series or series number added. This is because people are lazy and they just modify an existing edition, rather than adding a new one. Theoretically, any edit can come from any instance.

Is it voice-unlock? If so, not that I'm sure I have to tell you this, but please, please make your nearest voice-capable assistant far enough from the front-door/open window so that nobody can just shout 'hey <insert voice assistant here>, unlock door' and they're in. I certainly don't mean to patronise you in the slightest, but 'smart' anything is a concern, especially where home automation is concerned.

@cordova5029 Sennheiser Ambeo. I have a whole stash since they got beyond cheap. But if iPhones switch to usb c I'll have to reconsider what to do. They might work with the dongle but at that point I might as well use a dedicated recorder.
@Estrella damn, you can still tell it's her though. Just younger. IT's interesting, cats seem to have a set of meows, well they can make hundreds of vocal noises, I read somewhere, but cats seem to have a similar set of meows, regardless of ages.
@kevinrj oh I talk to her a lot. I just happened to be recording and wanted her to be the star of the show. But you bet I usually meow right back. And then we go back and forth for minutes.

Holy shit, that meow! Legit made me wimper that I couldn't give the poor kitty pets, or food, or assistance with world domination, or anything she needed. Cats really have the art of manipulating humans down, don't they? They are weaponised cuteness, and there is nothing we can/want to do.
@Mayana I seem to recall reading somewhere that this is literally true - wild or feral adult cats don't meow nearly as much and definitely not in the same way as domestic(ating) cats, and they pitch their meows to more or less coincide with the cries of a human baby.
@pettter @Mayana oh she absolutely only meows to talk to us. Even if sometimes she just meows without a goal. Runs up to me, we meow back and forth a bunch, then she runs off. She probably doesn't know how much brighter she makes my days.
@pettter Exactly! Combine that with them rubbing themselves against you being as much, or perhaps more about making that you're *their* human. Granted, cats do also rub against each other, to create a sense of community in scent and such, but still. Such lovable manipulative bastards they are!

This has got to be one of the strangest things I have ever seen from a tts, when you have S01E06 as an example listen to how my 55 inch 2021 Samsung TV reads it.
this is because of something called scientific notation. If you have a number like 300, you could write it like 3e02. The number after the E basically tells you where to shift the decimal point. It's used to write numbers that would be too inconvenient to write out. For example, instead of writing 6720000000, you could write 6.72e9. Or if you had a really, really small number, like 0.00000000123, you could write it as 1.23e-9. So basically the e<number> is what trips it up and it thinks you're writing a number.

This is a bot to show NVDA add-on updates available at github.com/nvaccess/addon-data… For now it should be considered alpha quality. It looks for updates sent to the views branch, (views/en/latest folder), every 5 minutes, trying to process individual submissions. If multiple submissions are found, this bot will inform about the number of add-ons updated. For single submissions, the add-on display name, version, channel, homepage, download URL and SHA-256 to verify its integrity will be provided. All this may be changed or improved, and, if I detect that something is wrong, will reply to the bot providing more details. @FreakyFwoof I started building this before MacWhisper came out, and this is built with two frameworks. There is a wxPython version, and a PySide6 version. The PySide6 version is the easiest one to set up and use for Windows currently due to issues with ffmpeg. It currently has very limited features, but it will work in Windows. I want to add timestamp support next.
