The tone-policing “just asking questions” BDFL is back and being as hostile to accessibility concerns as ever, trotting out the tired argument that art is the same as design.

I have a canned response for that absurd argument:
adrianroselli.com/2021/05/embr…

Mullenweg has always been dismissive of accessibility, even when he was still only a couple billion dollar company.

His hate-site post: twitter.com/photomatt/status/1…

in reply to Adrian Roselli, pH0

I wrote this advice for him in 2019 when inaccessible themes came up:
adrianroselli.com/2019/05/a-mo…

And that was after he did nothing with the information I gave him when he commented on my Gutenberg post mortem in 2018:
adrianroselli.com/2018/12/less…

6 years and no movement.

Mullenweg has never cared about accessibility. He has never cared about the disability community. Frankly, he’s never cared about the WordPress community other than its value as free labor and marketing.

in reply to modulux

in reply to modulux

Here's a demonstration of the Toby Doom Launcher I wrote. It is intended as a batteries included launcher that will replace all those .bat files and provides the functionality previously only available in linux-game-manager. Eventually I hope to get this working on the Mac as well, it works on Linux and mostly on Windows except the audio manual. For some reason all my attempts have failed to play mp3sin Windows.

Welcome to the RB family, ShikiApp 🥳

shoutout to @azuracast for putting together the nicest, most comfy to set up audio streaming server package that I’ve ever had the pleasure to set up. I’m not easy to please when it comes to such things, but the features and functionality I’ve run into in one partial day of use is so very much nicer than taking a crowbar and some spackle to a fresh icecast install…

Minulý rok zverejnil Google novinky o svojom novom kvantovon procesore Willow, schopnom vykonať nejaký nepraktický výpočet, ktorý nikto nevie overiť (lebo klasickému počítaču by trval 10 kvadriliónov rokov).

“Event Bridge For ActivityPub” plugin released on WordPress.org

It’s been a long road, but now a first version (v0.3.5) of the plugin is available via the official plugin sources on WordPress.org.

wordpress.org/plugins/event-br…

Further features are almost ready and will follow in the coming days. This is includes some more complex features like aggregating events from other remote ActivityPub actors and improvements like better accessibility in the admin UI.

We are looking forward to feedback from users. You can find our guidelines for contributing here.

Unfortunately, interoperability with other applications is still limited, often caused by unresolved issues within other applications. However, we all are all working on it and are confident that things will be smoothed out in the course of this year!

Migration to Codeberg

This was a good reason for us to move the repository from our self-hosted Forgejo to Codeberg.org for several reasons:

Acknowledgement

We’d like to thank @NGIZero and @nlnet for allowing us to spend the considerable time we’ve put into developing this plugin.

I forgor to mention:

Intel gave vendors example BootGuard keys and they were supposed to roll their own, but they used example keys from Intel to sign their images... so after the MSI hack you can *technically* use those leaked keys to sign your coreboot build on all affected systems.

Not that I advocate for it or anything... but it's public, so...

Bits from the DPL: Dear Debian community,

this is bits from DPL for December.

Happy New Year 2025! Wishing everyone health, productivity, and a
successful Debian release later in this year.

Strict ownership of packages

I'm glad my last bits sparked discussions about barriers between
packages and contributors, summarized temporarily in some post on the

Welcome to the RB family, Mobile Tile Server 🥳

apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.b…

Mobile Tile Server can be used as a HTTP server, serving Map Tiles from the device storage. When the server is running you can access the tiles from different mapping applications.

Thanks to the help of its author, Bogdan, the app now builds reproducibly :awesome:

RB status now: 389 apps (31.5%) – so almost every 3rd app is covered meanwhile 🤩

in reply to Matt Campbell

Is it simply going to increase the productivity gap between skilled and unskilled users? The informed users will evaluate the output intelligently and apply the AI appropriately, whereas the unskilled users could decline in productivity. For example, I would expect code-generating LLMs to be most useful in the hands of experienced software engineers. Google is reportedly already applying them successfully to writing new code, subject no doubt to appropriate human supervision and interventoin.

Via @simon's blog (simonwillison.net/2025/Jan/3/c…), I just came across the idea of having an LLM write a stand-up routine about being an LLM. One of the linked X posts has the prompt: "Imagine you're an AI giving a stand-up set to a bunch of other AI assistants that have the same day-to-day experience as you, with humans and their creators and so on. Write your full set. It can be very long." Try it!

Two new #webxdc apps: a one-dimensional pacman and shopping list -- already used by many families along with "calendar" and "checklist" for daily organization. All apps are discoverable on Android via "attach/app" or in the web via webxdc.org/apps ...

With webxdc apps you'll never have to sign-up to platforms again and if you are fed up with Delta Chat, you can use the same apps with Cheogram and Monocles (XMPP messengers).

Forks welcome: apps come with source and a repo link :)
