Hey pals: Someone I like made a tool that extracts still images from youtube tutorials so we can follow them step by step with screenshots as God intended instead of having to constantly be pausing and seeking back and forth. I have LOST this precious resource.

Was it you? Will you give me the link? I will bookmark it this time.

UPDATE: FOUND. It is github.com/obra/Youtube2Webpag… by @jesse and it deserves a genius grant if we're honest

Please help the autism community of the United States be protected!
As some might know, RFK is planning to create a registry for those who are autistic. this is a violation of basic human rights, and can lead to things like nonconsensual and painful therapies, force sterilization and eugenic cleansing.
Please help the American Autistic Community, and those who support said community, raise our voices in saying no. Sign the petition, if you can.

As a reminder to my academic friends. If you are doing research that involves modifying a compiler - perhaps to add a security mitigation or to test an optimization or some other interesting behavior - and you want to run a real world benchmark or test suite: we can help you run it on Firefox.

We can get you set up with our CI so it's easy and efficient to iterate on your patches and run it through the whole gamut.

If you want a compelling story in your paper, showing results on what is probably the second most complicated piece of software in use ought to do it.

My older sibling started an Etsy shop a couple weeks ago where they sell hand-made stickers. And, all the images have detailed, human-written alt text! Even if you can't see them, some of these stickers have really fun shapes. I especially like the Colorado ones. Great for laptops. etsy.com/shop/froggymakescraft…

They also recently started selling these: Handmade Foldable Tote Bag & Carrying Pouch. There are multiple patterns, I've personally been rocking the Grogu/Baby Yoda one, but there are mushrooms, cats in multiple colors, and more. Impossibly cute, and it folds up into this tiny little pouch with a button for securing. All sowed by hand, directly outside my bedroom door. etsy.com/listing/4295110843/ha…

If you think of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, you might conjure an image of Michelangelo’s famous ceiling. But what does that famous place, or any place, sound like? A new project timed to World Heritage Day asks us to experience the world through its sounds. Senior arts correspondent Jeffrey Brown reports for our arts and culture series, CANVAS. This is just your periodic reminder that if you need a new place to hang something, this instance has never closed signups in its existence and never plans to. You'll never need a million character limit, but we have one. We run Glitch-soc, and I've been known to submit or bump bug reports/feature requests for both Glitch and the stock Mastodon versions. Signups are restricted and you absolutely do require a reason, so this instance will never be nicoled. Oh, and I give 0 fucks as long as you follow the rules, which are common sense (I hope). Want a place to hide? Well, maybe Mastodon isn't that place - but if you want a place to hang out and cause trouble, we're open. allovertheplace.ca

if I where to setup a new @matrix@mastodon.matrix.org which server software is nicer to work with?

Synapse Or Conduit?

synapse seemingly has the pro in terms of support for tools such as synapse admin: github.com/Awesome-Technologie…
and the ability to use oauth and handle user management using solutions such as authentik.

while conduit seems to be more resource efficient and better in terms of speed?

Hello Fediverse admins, Meta's platform Threads has now switched to a new domain so it's time to add this to your defederation list:

threads.com

Here's how to defederate a server from the Mastodon admin interface: fedi.tips/how-to-defederate-fe…

(via @TechCrunch at mstdn.social/@TechCrunch/11439… though they seem to have just deleted the article... 🤔 Was this an embargoed announcement?)

EDIT: ...and now the post is gone too. Weird.

Tuta

The new plans also come with much larger storage capacity, you can use our new short tuta.com domain & unlimited aliases on your own domain. With the new plans, we were able to employ many more developers and improve Tuta much faster. This was necessary to get Tuta ready for everyone - not just the early adopters. ;)
