Adobe is now processing all your PDFs in the cloud, by default. The setting to “Enable generative AI features in Acrobat” was on, and I didn’t know it until I opened a document and Adobe asked me if I wanted a document summary. It’s annoying to have to click “No,” so I opened settings to disable the prompt.
THE PROBLEM
I sign Non-Disclosure Agreements for many of my clients. Adobe is a potential leak of protected information. I don’t know what Adobe does with this information. I don’t know what they store, or for how long. I don’t know what country (or countries) the data is stored in. I don’t know what LLMs are trained with this data. And I don’t need to know. What I need to know is that they won’t use default opt-in as a legal excuse to wiretap my information.
I recommend that you check your Adobe settings on all devices, for all Adobe accounts.

Garden joys: my ladybug is back, we chatted! She didn’t have a lot to say. The yellow flower is a real stunner! No idea what it’s called, let’s name it Yellow Flower.
The cardoon is once again 8 feet high and the bees are all over it like jam on toast (that means our hummingbird must be around here somewhere). I walk carefully around the bumblebarrons but they’re so busy rooting around in the big purple thistles that I’m not sure they even register my presence.

This is a thorough article about how dangerous Brightline in Florida is for people crossing the tracks. The line itself is owned by the Florida East Coast Railroad, who has neglected to fence off most of the right of way, grade separate, or make safety improvements to crossings.
Florida has bad pedestrian infrastructure in general, and I’d guess more people are killed on roads in Florida than by trains, but we need more trains, and they should be safe.

EU’s Cyber Resilience Act isn’t fully in effect yet, but #OSS maintainers are already bracing for compliance requests. cURL creator @bagder is among the first to receive one (from a Fortune 500 company using a 2 year old version.)

This will impact the maid the most, but it will also impact the rest of us.

Dneska prichazi liberation day pro Unreleased.
Prakticky resi presne ty problemy, ktere me napadnou pri deployi cehokoli.

From bare metal to cloud VMs using Docker, deploy web apps anywhere with zero downtime.Kamal
@zdenek Na otazky bezpecnosti jsem narazil. Je to asi nejvetsi kritika Kamalu. (i toho devops, nejenom serveru)
Ale to je resitelne, dulezite je DX pro vyvoj a otevrene moznosti skalovani. Bez toho by switchnout z Vercelu (top DX) neslo.
Aktualne mam na zkousku cast produkce na klasicke virtualce, ale planuju poridit 3x silnejsi masinu na Elastic Metal a dat tam 3x klon databaze (mame ted cockroachlabs.cloud) a k tomu 3x klon hlavni Next appky a zbytek nasazet bokem.

I don't know if something like that would really end up having a sizable market that would make it worth the effort. You're basically chasing the nostalgia that GenX and Millennials have for such things, and maybe they're buying it and hoping their kids will use it.
If I had the modern internet when I was young with all of the apps, social media, Youtube, countless cheap/free games, smartphones and tablets, etc... I doubt I'd have been spending my time trying to program and learn Linux/Unix stuff. I'd have been consuming all the other stuff 24/7.
I feel like there's a 15-20 year period where we existed in a bubble which drove us to these interests and develop these skills, but now there's so many distractions and options to spend your time on it's going to be very difficult to recreate that again in a younger generation.
