We definitely need more support for the Accessible Canada Act. It is only with political pressure that we are going to see governments actually regulating this. The Act is just the beginning, and is just one tool to make Canada more accessible.

Really annoying Orca behavior: you have to navigate by word to find spelling errors. rather than by paragraph or sentence. This is a massive productivity killer. If any #Blind #Linux users know how to change this, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll write to the Orca list and see if this can't be fixed.

Update: have written to the Orca list about this and hoping it's something that I can simply configure.

In the UK, christmas songs might be banned in pubs in bars. We all know who is behind it. Those who must not be named, of course.

@Yinshi Именно. Вся эта исламистская шваль тихоооонечко так захватывает Европу. Благо, голоса уже есть, но они пока считаются фашистами. И кстати, хуже от этого только нормальным мусульманам, которых эта братия дискредитирует.

I went for a walk this morning. A tree branch hit me in the face. It scratched my cheek, missing my right eye by not very much, and yanked my right AirPod out completely. I had to use Find My to recover my AirPod. If you own trees and their branches overhand public sidewalks, please, PLEASE keep them trimmed. Not everyone can see and avoid branches.

Oh, and yes, I've called the office for code enforcement about branches. They never called me back.

When an entire class of technology states on the packaging that it was made in China but intended "for overseas use only," this should really give you pause before plugging it into your network.

You will find this verbiage on a lot of Android TV streaming boxes for sale at the major retailers. There's a very good reason the country that makes this crap doesn't want it on their own networks. My advice: If you have one of these Android streaming boxes on your network or get one as a gift, toss it in the trash. I'll have a lot more about this in the New Year, but these things are responsible for building out a botnet that currently has ~2M devices and is growing rapidly. blog.xlab.qianxin.com/kimwolf-…

@miki The bot forms the connection to the server. Bing bang boom.

There's also IP6. That may or may not be available for direct addressing.

That's all the issue is. The outside doesn't know how to address something behind a NAT. Once a connection is formed the NAT gateway deals with the translations and communication happens normally for the two sides. The NAT gateway does the work at that point.

Let's Dance and Road To Hell (Part 2) are among the best tracks of my years. #RIP Chris Rea

Sad to hear that Chris Rea passed away today. I haven't heard Driving Home for Christmas yet this year, so I'm dusting off a cover I wrote and recorded a few years ago on a fundraiser album. This version is what might happen if a blind person decided to drive home for Crimbo, with everything you're hearing being done by actual blind people. Well, everything apart from the driving (didn't have the budget for a car or good lawyers).

Credits:
David Eagle did the lead vocal.
My guy Dwight Brady did the angry drivers/traumatic adlibs, was also the tiny child at the end.
@technowitch was the police dispatcher.
Ché Martin was the swat team commander.
Satauna Howery was the news reader near the end.
Dwight again on drums.
Me on bass, all the button-pushy production stuffs and writing stupid lyrics (before AI could do that BTW, mentioning so you know who to blame).
@daygar on piano/keys/strings.
Chris Faelnar on guitar.

All told, the production went to 7 countries.

And all that to say, RIP Chris, you bloody legend.

Enjoy! x

Lyrics:

I'm driving home for Christmas
Oh I can't wait to feel those faces
I'm driving home for Christmas, yeah
Driving even though I'm blind

And it may seem wrong
But I will get there if I push on
It's like the end of days
When I'm borrowing your car
Driving home for Christmas

It's gonna take some time, but I'll get there...

Caused a 10 mile tailback
Oh I hear sirens all around
But this is kinda freeing, yeah
Making people go to ground

So I facetime you
'cos Aira said they can't guide me through
Don't fear, it's just me
Borrowing your car
And driving home for Christmas

Driving home for Christmas, making memories...

I hear the shout of a driver next to me
He's up in flames...

I made it through the tailbacks
There's a police convoy in bound
I'm driving home for Christmas, yeah
Laying waste to every town

Now I'm on the news
There's helicopters, a swat team too
I hope you'll forgive me
Borrowing your car
And driving home for Christmas

Driving home for Christmas, with a thousand casualties...

Say a prayer for the family next to me
They've all been mamed...

So according to the UK government, Greta Thunberg is now a dangerous terrorist.

I'm beginning to think the UK government may have lost its moral compass.

I haven’t tuned into CBS since its morning news promoted that interview (and Weiss) last week. This latest announcement validates my decision.

“CBS News launches town hall series featuring JD Vance following Bari Weiss’ ratings flop”

in reply to Adrian Roselli, pH0

Bari Weiss continues to do administration’s bidding and I continue to treat CBS as state mouthpiece.

Frontline / ProPublica did a short CECOT vid last week:

Anyway, ‘60 Minutes’ had a good run.

in reply to Adrian Roselli, pH0

The spiked ‘60 Minutes’ CECOT story aired on the Global-TV app in Canada.

Jason Paris recorded it (the old-school way):

A 370MB zipped MP4 running 13:47. Not a RickRoll.

Useful to compare to when Bari Weiss ‘updates’ with ‘new reporting’.

I went on FSCast to talk about Paperback! "This month, Mitchell Smedley shares his experience hosting his own radio show and serving as president of a college radio station. Quin Gillespie introduces Paperback, a fully accessible ebook and document reader for Windows. It’s pretty damn customer hostile to implement these features only in the EU - so Apple can do these things, they just choose not to, so as to keep the walled garden’s wall as high as possible. mastodon.social/@macrumors/115…

How'bout this? No words so you're safe. Doesn't even sound like a Christmas tune as a result. Much better that way. youtu.be/1tDjp2lTmuM
in reply to Onj 🎶

@Onj That’s indeed better. One song I don’t really mind is this version of 12 days of Christmas, because it’s musically nerdy and mostly instrumental, except the throat singing section. youtube.com/watch?v=g-vCauX4lY…
