@blindscribe So my instance can choose to federate with another specific instance and those posts will show up as well as posts from any of the people who are followed by the people I happen to follow? Is it two pronged like that?
@Steve Sawczyn Most likelly I'm saying the same, I just would like to make sure we all get it right. The federated timeline of an instance consists of all the public posts retrieved from timelines of individual users having account on that instance. For example we both are on instance1.social, I'm following user from instance2.social, you are following another user from instance3.social. Anyone looking at the instance1 federated timeline will see their public posts

is owned by www-data:www-data. Seems that PHP tries to acces the files with user "friendica" any idea how to fix that?
BTW: At the moment it does seem to have any negative effect on the site at all.
@Marek Bachmann @Friendica Support To me it appears you have created a friendica system account to run either the cron task or daemon. Either make those running by the user www-data or reconfigure php-fpm to run the friendica specific pool under friendica user and chown everything friendica related to the friendica user.

@Tutanota, that's great, but as a user of Tutanota, I find it too hard to find stuff. It does not really help, that whatever I need is on my device, somewhere. I'll explain.
There is no way to tag messages. There is no support for subfolder structure. Even the desktop app (which is really 1:1 with the web experience) is really, really limited.
Tags/subfolders has been a requested feature by many others also. You don't like this being brought up and will not discuss it.

If you move to Tutanota, you will have to make a folder for every single category/sender, if you want to find it some day later.
Edit/addition. To make it clear, you do have folders in Tutanota. Single-level, no subfolders, no tags. This is what makes it a nightmare if you get a lot of email/want to use Tutanota as your primary email.

How do they make sure you are the legitimate owner of that account after you deactivated it? Do they check whether you have control over the email address that was used to register? @datn
i imagine that you know them noyb.eu/en Austrian lawyers that have being working on GDPR and denouncing in Europe. maybe this can be an strategic case... for them also.
Obviously still go via the GDPR data removal route, but I found a bit of peace writing a script leveraging the API to delete all old posts. I think you can only delete 10 at a time, but a loop sorts that out
I did this back in April, so haven't got the script to hand, thought it was only a 5 liner
@ainmosni @Marguerite Yep, it’s actually _after_ deactivating it that you should send the GDPR erasure request (as they no longer have a legitimate interest in holding your data as you’ve expressed your will to delete your account).
@dch If you have #gdpr rights, they have 30 days to comply or they’re in breech (I believe they can extend it another 30 days under certain circumstances).
They’ve already been reprimanded and possibly fined for that in Ireland, I believe.
I read a couple of days ago that you said you'd just not use you twitter account anymore but will leave it so that links don't break or something like that.
what was your reasoning vs keeping the account as 🔒 and changing the nick to your fediverse handle so followers could still easily find you (as in automatically via fedifinder.glitch.me/ or other services like that)?
Going forward, I will no longer be checking Twitter or responding on it … I plan to concentrate as much of my time and energy as possible on building the Small Web.

i did this back when twitter ovners first decided they would like to be bought by the bro. Even if the deal would not have happened it would still have been a breach of trust in my opinion. I don’t want him anywhere near any data about me.
@beverleykendall Hey Beverley, it’s a right we have under the General Data Protection Regulation in the EU. I believe there’s still a comparable statue in UK law and in California also. I’m using a service by a not-for-profit that composes the email for you and can help you follow-up with the process.
Weell, I think 1.40£ a day isn't quite capturing it. You need to pay at least the full 49€ for a month and afaik it auto-renews. So it's "Imagine being able to travel anywhere in your country (by local trains) for ~600€/year"
Which is ofc better than not having that option but you need to travel relatively frequently for it to be worth it.
this does seem like a nice deal, but with modern e-ticket systems I think it's even better to follow an "auto-pass" or "cost limit" model, where no prepayment is needed and instead it just charges you per journey until you reach the cap, and then any further usage is free until the next month.
Of course that does mean you don't get the revenue from folks who overestimated their travel needs, but public transport should be optimized for lowest possible friction and ease of use.
OCRbot is far from perfect, and should not be relied on as the sole method of captioning images. It's much better and more reliable to caption images yourself, if at all possible. If it's too long to fit in the description field, consider posting it in a reply (or multiple replies).
