i'm taking a course in Shopify Academy and just red this... curious what your thoughts are: Consumers expect fast delivery options. Retailers will need to offer same-day or next-day delivery to meet these expectations and stay competitive. Providing flexible delivery options, such as scheduled delivery times and easy return processes, will also enhance the customer experience and encourage purchases.
Does delivery time play into you chosing to order a product?

There's a question in r/blind: "Should I switch to a MacBook after ten years on Windows?" No. No you should not. The poster is doing coding, and I can't imagine trying to learn to code while also dealing with how badly VoiceOver does in Safari. I haven't tried VSCode on macOS much, but I doubt it would be anywhere near as seamless as it is on Windows.
in reply to Alex Hall

It’s not bad. I prefer code runner but VS Code works.

Carbon capture and storage will play absolutely no role in "the energy transition" as there's no evidence it can be scaled up in any meaningful way that even lowers emissions, and isn't creating energy either.

CCS is simply just a scam that's been designed by and for the fossil fuel industry so they can keep burning and profiting - and make you suffer for it.

Now the CAQ government is saying it wants half of the 160,000 asylum seekers currently in QuΓ©bec moved... but the federal government must manage it.

β€œNo, absolutely not.”

β€œOk. Hey, could I get a service account with admin rights, please? It’s for the, erm, big integration.”

β€œSure, here are seven of them just in case.”

in reply to Christian Selig

My former employer invited him to talk at a company event back in 2009 or so, and while I listened to him talk, I had an unsteady feeling about him and his attitudes. I had a feeling this guy could be a toxic personality easily. I hate to be proven correct. And I am glad I didn't accept a job offer at that place a few years back. A friend had encouraged me to apply, but I felt this wasn't right for me. Well, I got burnt out anyway, and am now retired and no longer need to worry about anything job-related any more, but I am certainly glad I avoided that particular pitfall.

Mozilla latest move make it hard to say "use Firefox as it is not developed by an ad company"

The argument that Google money doesn't influence Firefox development, but the means, is no longer relevant.

Congratulation to Mozilla for choosing a strategy that alienate the last bit of demographic that support them.

If you're sick of the "Log in with Google" pop-up (I am) and use UBlock Origin on Firefox, you can nuke it by adding this to your filters:

accounts.google.com/gsi/*

At least, it's worked so far.

Some days I think every "advance" in web technologies after 1998 was a mistake...

I kind of want to go there now just for the "What in the Quebec fascism is going on" comment
in reply to Dave Macβ€ŠFarlane

@driusan Yup. It's Franco Fascism. Legault is a Fascist. And not even just about language. That permeates in everything.

As a person whose mother tongue is French (from France) I feel deeply offended with what's happening.

I wonder why the Android 15 beta for Samsung phones is coming so late this year? If I remember right, when I got my Samsung phone, there was already an Android 14 beta for it, and that was in early September.
in reply to Mason

I was wondering the same thing. Google’s release is late too, so maybe there are some under the hood changes that make just dropping in previous modifications and adding new ones less simple than they were last year. Reminds me of the Android 7/8 days.

So far I like Earth 6160 Captain America far more than Earth 1610 Cap.

Given the recent Telegram scandal, we've updated our review of WhatsApp alternatives. πŸ‘‰ tuta.com/de/blog/best-whatsapp…

What's your take? Should we drop Telegram completely? πŸ€”

Which is your favorite replacement for WhatsApp?

in reply to Tuta

certainly no telegram, if possible. but it became more than just messenger, unfortunately.

if it should be a channel, i guess matrix kinda works. maybe with Chinny client?

if (open) group chats, matrix as well. also signal, but the problem with signal is that it requires phone number (even if you can hide it).

if private messages, signal and matrix; simpleX seems nice, even though i didn't try it. threema is not free, so not everyone will be able to use it.

signal and matrix have their problems, but they're WAY better than telegram kremlingram.

don't know about wire and session much, can't really say anything about them.

DHL need to get over themselves. Nobody knows or cares about the difference between DHL and DHL Express, or their separate websites, or their separate apps - apart from when you go to the wrong one, because it's so confusing. Absolute whammers

Apparently the crooks that are airlines have argued at the supreme court of Canada that the passenger bills of right that Canadian believe is toothless is too much for them....

Wonder why flying is so terrible? Look no further.

in reply to Hubert Figuière

Good news everyone, the Supreme Court of Canada spanked them.

Now maybe we should add teeth to the whole thing to make it worth it.

Canada is finally ready to build a high speed rail line

thestar.com/politics/federal/t…

Brace for impact, a new Glossy Report is incoming.

#cdnpoli

in reply to Hubert Figuière

Even our glossy report doesn't have any ambition. Toronto<->Montreal is a little over 500 km. That should be 2 hours by high speed train.
in reply to Dave Macβ€ŠFarlane

@driusan yup 2hrs. I used to commute 230km.... was a 1 hour platform to platform.

also was 20 years ago.

Not in Canada.

That would make Ottawa 50min and Quebec 1h from Gare Centrale. And Toronto 2 in a direct connection. Ottawa Toronto could be 1.5 hr (it's 404 km by road, done it many time)

It amazes me that there are actually people out there who believe that the only motive behind things like ttCom is to spy. Sorry not sorry folks, take a seat and dial down your paranoia. It'll eat you alive if you let it. Music bbots also have the ability to see exactly who has logged in and out of servers, Softdev's logs feature being a prime example. Its not spying. It is convenience, not having to spam f2 and enter a billion times just to see who is connected to a server when I can just type "sh" into a console window and get all that info at once. I really don't get why people are so odd about it. Tell me what ttCom does that I can't do right now with my teamtalk client. Don't say ttCom messages because that's just a fancy pm. And don't say audio interceptionn because it doesn't have the ability to do anything tt audio related. Don't say hover because I can log into a server with a normal tt client and do the same thing. Don't say intercept because it doesn't do that by default, and tt now tells you when you're being intercepted anyway. Don't say multiple server connections at once because I can easily press control n in my main tt window and, you guessed it, do the same thing with profiles. So what's it gonna be? I am genuinely curious what makes it so bad, as some people can't help but believe.

‼️ Tusky will stop supporting #Android 7 in 2025. We still don't know the fix date, but will tell you in advanced.

❓ What does it mean for Android 7 users?

➑️ It means that users with Android 7 installed will still be able to use the #Tusky version they have installed when this happens, but they are not going to ble able to update it to newer versions if they don't update the operating system or change smartphone/tablet.

in reply to Tusky

My tablet will turn 10 years old next year, and now has a chance to become my first device rendered obsolete not by hardware failure, but by lack of software support (LineageOS abandoned it already in 2019).
in reply to Tusky

#Android7 #2016 #y2016

They are not going to be able to update it on Play and Fdroid?

"Android Nougat (codenamed Android N during development) is the seventh major version and 14th original version of the Android operating system. First released as an alpha test version on March 9, 2016, it was officially released on August 22, 2016, with Nexus devices being the first to receive the update."
