The developer behind the well-received Kiwi Browser for Android has revealed that the app is effectively shutting down.
The app has been pulled from the Play Store and will no longer be maintained after January.

Včerejší výlet na katamaranu byl super. Plán byl vyrazit z přístavu Costa Adeje směrem na severozápad podél pobřeží až k údolí #Masca #Tenerife. Pluli jsme okolo monumentálního nejdelšího útesu v Evropě Los Gigantes, který je v některých místech vysoký až 600 metrů. U pláže Masca jsme zakotvili a byla koupačka. ⤵️

Jobs almost caught up on friendica.world

The jobs are being processed faster, now doing 120k jobs per day. There are 78k jobs remaining.

There were around 150k jobs for Jan 11th, it's almost through those. After that, there are only 4k jobs per day on average, meaning it will start processing a day every hour. I estimate it will start doing that around 1 or 2 pm CET today, so expect a lot of notifications start coming in after that. It should be all up-to-date around midnight (CET).

Soft Voice is now live on Jammable. I'm not too happy with it as it took the breathier qualities of the voice rather than the stronger portions, so to me it does not sing well. However, use it if you have credits or the time for amusement: jammable.com/soft-voice-tts-pz…

TalkBack image descriptions on the OnePlus 13 are powered by an on-device generative AI model from Google.

So I guess this confirms the OnePlus 13 indeed supports the multimodal Gemini Nano model.

The model occupies about ~4GB of space so I hope more use cases emerge for it. Once the AI Edge SDK opens up more, I'm hoping some 3P apps start to use it.

For all you retro text to speech nerds out there, here's a recording of Superior Software's "Speech" for the Amstrad CPC computer (1986). This was a small piece of Z80 machine code that played phonemes through the computer's AY-3-8912 sound chip

It sounds pretty harsh, and there are a number of hard clicks in the output I couldn't easily fix.

Apparently there are several Nostr relays that bridge, with or without asking for permission, profiles to somewhere else.

Actually at least over here I also could create a positive list, restricting access to only predefined instances.

That said, the "asking for permission" is if some instance simply mirrors profiles "without asking for permission" each profile or instance it pretends to mirror or duplicate. This in any case is basically about good manners, not technical possibilities.

I didn't dig into some apparent nostr discussion itself but saw the possibility to register a profile for mirroring it. Well, actually the only way this could happen in a correct respectful manner is that a profile follows an account that than interpretates that following as a request or permission to be mirrored.

Not interested in supporting bluesky or disrespectful folks in any way so I guess this list comes kinda preemptive handy.

I personally appreciate the activity. at the same time I would like to express my preference for videos that can be listened to. The worst form is interviews where the questions are in text and the answers in audio, which is not your case. I understand that it may be a rational production decision. @ruza It would probably be even easier with a voice instead of text, but I really hate listening to myself. Even the underlying music was driving me crazy after several hours (yes, it took me several hours to put together a 2-minute video, it's still more learning than creating now), I can't imagine listening to myself over and over for hours. 🙉

Jde o to, ze Peertube umí rozdělit video a audio jen pár měsíců. Klientům bude chvíli trvat se tomu přizpůsobit. Já bych se toho dál držel. Šetří to místo a lidi můžou poslouchat jen audio.

2. The young woman I was coaching through a job application process and negotiations just secured a good job, with better pay, great benefits, and good professional development opps.

3. My new organic latex + cotton + wool mattress arrived and it's super comfy. 😴

A deep dish pie plate made from Standard Brown Stoneware is entering the leather-hard stage.There's a tiny hamsa stamped in the center, and will be revealed in the finished piece when the pie is eaten. There are two fancy handles, and the rim is crimped.
