Many consider #Bluesky a success, but in fact its activity has steadily declined since Trump's inauguration. The #Fediverse has had similar trends. Rapid growth caused by an external event is always followed by a slow decline back to a small base of loyal users. In a world full of dopamine addiction, it's hard to be a social network without dark patterns.
agreed but I think we look at social media all wrong. it's treated as entertainment instead of a civic tool. I think that misunderstanding is widespread because of how it evolved with those dark patterns. people know of it as providing dopamine, instead of a better way to distribute the most relevant news and spread the best culture, while incorporating a public conversation about all that.
This is indeed very similar to the fediverse if I see the MAU on fedidb (they don't show daily). In fact, the active participation longterm might be far lower on BS?
This pattern correlates with news intake from past elections with a lead up during high profile events. Adoption is tough. My friends aren’t on Mastodon and beyond news or science it seems like a struggle to get information on other fun social topics like sports. Where it isn’t a mirror bot no one interacts with.
The removal of the dark patterns is wonderful tho. It feels like you can really time out because you don’t see anything interesting sometimes and that’s okay.

I own a Librem5 and this device has not even a little bit met the expectations that I and a lot of other people had for it. It is still pretty much useless for daily driving and stays in my drawer for most of the time. Although I wouldn't call Purism a scam, it really underestimated the scale of such a project. The worst thing was the lack of communication.
All the "business opportunities" now are just a call for help in a struggle to survive somehow imho.

problem with cookie banners and so-called choices is that these are temporary - lasting until cache gets cleared or user changes the device and has to confirm these preferences again.
browsers should handle these "choices" and by default refuse to store anything that is not necessary for a site to work.
perhaps also a special ranking system or something similar should be established that would warn users against sites who try to trick into "legitimate interest".
Do you think it would make sense to implement bridges from platform accessibility APIs that push updates to AccessKit? For example, this could make Wine accessible if you run a UIA or MSAA client inside Wine that pushes tree updates to AccessKit over some kind of socket, which Orca or Odilia could interpret and let you navigate and read. Or you could do the same thing with WSL2, having an ATSPI client that forwards updates to AccessKit which JAWS or NVDA or Narrator could interpret. Maybe you could even do this for virtual machines, to improve performance and responsiveness, and so you can use your favorite screen reader with any OS you want. I think ChromeOS makes Android applications accessible with this kind of bridge, because when you use Android apps on ChromeOS you're still using ChromeVox with the same commands and speech settings and navigation works the exact same way, even though you're using an Android VM, not a thin emulation layer like Wine.
@emassey0135 The difficult part here is efficiently gathering information from the current pull-based accessibility APIs (UIA, AT-SPI). In the specific case of Wine, where the UIA implementation (but not the API) could be changed, this might be more tractable. It's something I'd like to work on sometime.
@emassey0135 Then again, the most efficient way to gather information from UIA would probably require Wine to implement the UIA feature called Remote Operations which I helped implement while I was at Microsoft, and that feature is covered by a patent. Yes, I'm deliberately sabotaging my ability to just ignore the patent, by mentioning it publicly.
@emassey0135 For what it's worth, the best public overview of the UIA Remote Operations feature was probably the description of this NVDA PR by Michael Curran: github.com/nvaccess/nvda/pull/… The feature is mostly not of interest to UIA providers (toolkits), only clients (ATs).

to vypadá fajn. Jak dlouho tomu vydrží baterka? Už se delší dobu dívám po něčem trochu schopnějším, ale dost mě odpuzuje párování s telefonem respektive nutnost připojení k internetu pro nahrávání tras u některých počítačů.
@plactagonic Baterie záleží jak máš vše nastaveno. Klínovec když jedu, tak s obědem je to jizda 5-6 hodin, nemám zapnutý žádný úsporný režim jen automatický stop při zastavení. No a po dojezdu jsem měl baterku 30% Při normálním ježdění nabíjím jednou za dva týdny. Bez párování s Garmin aplikací, se asi neobejdeš.

Jinak mě by úplně stačilo kdyby se do té Sigmy ta track navigace s turn by turn pokyny dala nahrát offline. Prostě něco co umí každá mapová aplikace tohle prostě neumí, takže ne jen že jet ten počítač úplně hloupej ale i ta aplikace. To je asi jen můj problém, prostě nepotřebuju nic moc ale abych toho dosáhl tak de facto potřebuju koupit Hammerhead Karoo což je ještě o řád dražší.
@plactagonic Nevím kamarád dostal k narozeninám Karoo 3 -výdrž 12-18h podle nastavení -cena je skoro identická s GARMIN -podporuje snímače SRAM (což nevyužije) + různé píčoviny na trénování -je přehlednější, plánování trasy v zařízení, nebo přes jejich APP import GPX Předtím měl předchůdce Garmin 1050 a odešel kvůli ovládání. Chce hlavně navigaci, což prý není moc výhra ani u jednoho. Jeho závěr - raději mobil + APP. Vybírá bazarový uleFone + placené locusmap.app
Ten starší Edge Explore (1. generace), co jsem tu dával fotku, má výdrž zhruba 12 hodin. Jasně, není to žádná raketa, ale na běžný výlety úplně v pohodě. Možná by zvládl i wattmetr, ale to jsem nezkoušel.
Já osobně teď jezdím s Garmin Edge 1040, který má výdrž kolem 35 hodin, a ten už fakt stačí i na dlouhý trasy nebo bikepacking.
✔️ Import GPX funguje bez problémů na obou modelech. ✔️ Grafy, statistiky a tréninková data? Garmin toho nabízí až až. ✔️ Pokud někdo chce detailní mapy, dá se dokoupit např. tato TOPO mapa – obsahuje silnice, turistické trasy, cyklotrasy, vrstevnice, lesy, řeky atd.
Neříkám, že je Garmin bez chyb, ale pro hobíka je to spolehlivý a jednoduchý nástroj. Zapnu a jedu. Nic neřeším. garmin.com/cs-CZ/p/701287/pn/0…
Pro tebe to funguje ale já prostě potřebuju jen tu navigaci a základní tracking. Grafy, senzory, statistiky tréninku a takové kraviny jsou mi ukradený.
Takže toto zařízení mi zdarma nabízí něco co vůbec nechci a to co potřebuju chtějí za příplatek?
Jen ty mapy stojí to co ta Sigma, nedej bože když potřebuješ víc zemí. To už líp vychází dynamo na nabíjení mobilu + starý mobil + nějaká zpoplatněná OSM aplikace (pro mě OsmAnd).
Dnes jen malá #birellovka Ještě jsem zapomněl peníze a jde zde platit jen přes qr kód a to nejde z Revolutu na CZ účet. Tak jsem musel zaplatit z transparentního účtu, ale hned jsem to poslal z Revolutu. 🤷
Já bych si to nemohl dovolit, jsem "pokladník", účetní a svačinář několika spolků, většinou dětských zájmových kroužků. Jelikož jakékoliv peníze od města/státu odmítáme, také odmítáme jakékoliv spojování s nimi v médiích, děcka nám vyhrávají jednu mezinárodní soutěž za druhou, tak jen letos máme za sebou 3 kontroly, hygienu, bezpečnost i finančák. Loni to bylo celkem 7 kontrol.
