Hi all,

I’m writing to give an early heads-up about an upcoming change to the ports
tree that will affect a large number of port Makefiles.

As part of improving license tracking and aligning with SPDX standards,
we will be updating all LICENSE fields to use SPDX-compliant identifiers.
For example:

- BSD2CLAUSE → BSD-2-Clause
- GPLv2+ → GPL-2.0-or-later
- GPLv3 → GPL-3.0-only
- ZLIB → Zlib

awww I guess that means hundreds of lines of Makefiles in the ports tree will lose my attribution 🥲

holy shit that was over 10 years ago???

I enjoyed this #TEDTalk by Hannah Gadsby. I've enjoyed her Netflix series #Nanette & #Douglas so wasn't too surprised that her "Three ideas. Three contradictions. Or not." was something I would enjoy. I do love her exploration with her own #neurodiversity and how she is able to connect. Thanks again for connecting us with your stories.

This Airline Was Just Named the No. 1 Domestic Airline in the U.S. for 2025—and Travelers Call It 'Almost Like Flying Private'
"...As one T+L reader explained, flying JSX is “almost like flying private. Friendly staff, easy check-in, help with boarding, luggage.” When you fly with JSX, you limit your time at the airport, checking in just 20 minutes before takeoff on most flights and walking through “frictionless” TSA-approved security. On board, each guest is treated to business-class amenities and free Starlink Wi-Fi...."

In a recent CNN report, skepticism surrounds the Trump Organization’s claim that its new “T1” smartphone is “Made in the USA.”

Experts, including Todd Weaver, CEO of Purism, challenged the claim, citing striking similarities between the T1 and a low-cost Chinese phone, the Revvl 7 Pro 5G, made by Wingtech, a Chinese manufacturer.

Weaver emphasized the logistical and technical difficulty of building a phone in the U.S.

On FreeBSD if you want to list only the packages you explicitly specified to install (excluding packages that were pulled in as dependencies), run:

$ pkg prime-list

This can be useful for duplicating the list of packages installed on another machine.

Soming up NFB national convention in a nutshell! This was an absolute disaster, and for thos who didn't go, your money is saved. See my last post, with a tiktok link, telling the story from a sighted person's perspective. Now. I know, i will get hate for this, however, in my opinion, NFB puts this on themselves, for not vetting where they hold there conventions! Wish i had the money to attend ACB instead! As it seems that everyone's coverage is possitive, compared to this mess i just experienced today!

🐘 Ještě se nám ani nestihla ohřát verze 4.4.0… a už tu máme Mastodon 4.4.1! 😄
Nejde o velkou novinku, ale o menší opravnou aktualizaci, která řeší drobné chyby.

@padraig All caveats aside, there are some major gotchas by uptaking 140esr if you are currently an Exchange user on 128. The most significant of these is that *TbSync is no longer available for 140!*

TbSync has far superior coverage for Calendar and Contact support compared to OWL, and experimental native EWS is currently mail only. If you need contacts (esp multiple subfolders!) and calendars (esp shared calendars) then DO NOT upgrade from 128 for the foreseeable future.

@btaroli
Thanks for that. For context, I work for a web hosting provider who resells 'Microsoft 365 Business' products. (Cloud, Not on-prem)

We don't have any customers (to my knowledge) that are currently using Microsoft 365 in Thunderbird (unless they are using Owl)

We're just looking at the possibility of using TB in the future as an alternative client for Outlook.

My understanding is that only On-prem works in 140esr? Or does online work on 140esr also?

🧵 1/5 @padraig @thunderbird Took a little searching but I am working again! Yay. The complexity is that which setup to use with Exchange can be legacy (POP3, IMAP+SMTP, EAS, EWS/OWA) or current Graph API. Thunderbird 140 supports all of the legacy API but not yet Graph API.

Someone did a writeup of a bunch of "AI-powered" startups attending a pitch competition, and it:

a ) is fucking hilarious
b ) involves one of the startups accidentally screen-sharing that their patentable technology appears to just be forked from an academic's work with no credit
3) further includes a radiology company admitting they haven't consulted any radiologists lmao
