Hey @delta! Reading this delta.chat/en/2025-05-22-brows… got me thinking. I live in Firefox but miss Chrome’s one-click “Install PWA as app”. What about a Tauri-based helper + a Firefox extension that wraps a PWA into a desktop app in one step? Hosting stays light: the PWA is cached; relays/self-hosted instances can serve the client. Keeps control with admins. Interested? 👍🏻

• I've ported UnifiedPush to Firefox, so it can receive background notifications using the service you want, specially useful for PWA (installable web application)
• ntfy provides a PWA
• So I can receive ntfy notifications with their PWA through any push service, for instance using Sunup :D

Cool, Fennec is interested in #UnifiedPush support

[1]We will probably have it on Fennec before it gets upstream (if it does 🤞).

That means UnifiedPush will be available for "installable web applications". So we'll have push notifications with some new apps !

Today I want to talk to you about a combination of technologies that I don’t see often implemented, yet I wonder why: Web Push Notifications and Progressive Web Apps.
