I recently bought the TP-Link NE200, one of the few outdoor 5G modems on the market. As I couldn't find any unboxing videos, and the product descriptions didn't specify what was included, I decided to make my first unboxing and installation video. It's quite amateurish, but maybe someone will find it useful.
A few days after Christmas, a mom was tidying up in the kitchen while her young son played with his brand-new electric train set in the living room.
Suddenly, she heard him shout:
“Alright, everyone off! Grab your junk and scram—this is the last stop! And if you’re getting on, move it! We don’t have all day!”
Her eyes widened in shock. She marched into the room and said,
“Excuse me, mister! That is not how we speak in this house. You go to your room right now and think about your tone. You can come back in two hours and try again—with manners!”
Two hours later, the boy returned to his train set, picked up the remote, and started again.
His mom listened from the kitchen as he sweetly announced:
“Ladies and gentlemen, we hope you enjoyed your ride. Please take all personal items with you as you leave. Thank you for choosing our train service today!”
Then he continued,
“For our new passengers, welcome aboard! Kindly store your bags and find a seat. Just a reminder—this is a no-smoking train. We wish you a safe and pleasant journey.”
The mom grinned, feeling proud of the improvement… until he added:
“And if anyone’s mad about the two-hour delay, please see the rude and angry woman stuck in the kitchen.”

If you use the GMail web interface, you can create bookmarks, shortcuts, etc. To quickly switch to your accounts.
The basic format is: `mail.google.com/mail/u/0`.
0 is your first active account, 1 is next, etc.
On Windows, I have a batchfile (mail.bat) on my path. It looks like:
```
@start mail.google.com/mail/u/%1
```
Then, I can simply type "mail 0" into the run dialogue, and I'm at account 0.

Related, it's insane how bad Google's account handling actually is.
My "primary" account is the personal one, but I also have a secondary work account logged in. Whenever I click on a Google Meet link from Calendar, I'd expect it to open with my work account automatically (as that is the only one that has access). That... does not happen.

To make the open web safer, Google is launching *website owner verification*. Starting in 2026, Google will require all websites to be registered in order to be opened on Chrome.
All website owners are encouraged to sign up for early access. This is the best way to get ready and stay updated.
To get verified, all you need to do is providing your personal details, upload an official ID, and pay a 25$.
For hobbyists, Google is working on another console so you can add every Google accounts that are allowed to see your website.
And as Google is committed to keep the web open, they will provide a command line interface to open a single page of a non-verified website, but it's very dangerous and your Chrome will lose its certification. This will allow banks to forbid access to their website from non-certified Chrome.

последствия? догадайтесь с трех раз. поддержка хамас теперь становится золотым ключиком для любого левого буратины.
и им не хватит ума этим ключиком не пользоваться.

Nope. What's in the past is the past.
Only way forward is to minimize exposure to Google.

in reply to Jiří Eischmann • • •In my opinion, you made two mistakes. You bought a Chinese product connected to the internet.
You didn’t use an internal device and an external antenna.

in reply to Miroslav Buček 🌳 • • •@miroslavbucek Yes, it's a Chinese device connected to the Internet, but so was the previous Huawei modem. Not happy about it, but by the time my data gets to the modem, it's all encrypted.
Which 5G modem can be placed indoors and can be connected to an external antenna via an ethernet cable? The other two I'm aware of are Mikrotik ATL 5G R16, which is sadly much slower than NE200, and Zyxel FWA-710, which is sadly almost twice as expensive.
Note that although it's called router, I use it only as an antenna/modem. It's connected to Unifi Dream Machine, so isolated from the home network by NAT and UDM does all the heavy lifting.

in reply to Miroslav Buček 🌳 • • •@miroslavbucek Ubiquiti U-LTE-Pro is sadly only LTE. I'm paying for 1 Gbps and get real speeds 550-650 Mbps. There are many LTE modems to choose from, but I don't want a device that can only run at 1/6 of the speed I'm paying for. At the moment there are very few 5G modems. Like 3-4 you can use outdoors.
I'm not much concerned about getting disconnected remotely. I have a fallback WAN connected to UDM (with a much lower speed, but useable) and 3 phones to use if necessary.
But yeah, as I said I'm not super happy about buying a Chinese device and I'm willing to pay 20-30% extra for non-Chinese, but if the only comparable non-Chinese option is 100% extra, it's too much even for me.
Miroslav Buček 🌳
in reply to Jiří Eischmann • • •But in the end, it’s always cheaper to vote with your wallet than later with weapons. Why are Chinese devices so cheap? Because they don’t care about the environment or people - and the strategic ones are even subsidized by a totalitarian regime.
A great manufacturer is the Lithuanian company Teltonika:

in reply to Miroslav Buček 🌳 • • •If it's matter of national security, it can't really be left on individual consumer choices. If Chinese products are a threat to national security, let's put tariffs on them and make them sell for a fair price.
Ondráš Přibyla had a really good point in his talk about decarbonization of Czechia at OpenAlt: it's pointless to appeal to individuals not to fly or eat meat when it would only save 4% of CO2 emissions if they all went with it. It's about making policies that make it unprofitable for a handful of enteprises that make up 40% of emissions.
It's the same here. I can beat myself for buying Chinese products, but it's meaningless if O2 comes and buys 100k Huawei modems because they're simply cheaper.
Teltonika is good, still expensive, but seems well maintained and produced in Europe. I will consider it next time.

in reply to Jiří Eischmann • • •Jirko díky za video.
