it seemns the #steamdeck wasn't revolutionising much of anything, the idea was tryed before, with varying success. Sure, while you could think of the gpd win and not be far from the truth, actually there was an even earlier attempt at the same thing by #samsung. Since this was launched in the xp era, of course it didn't catch well at the time, however it's still an awesome thing to think about. In short, it was a windows xp powered tablet, with a touchscreen, game controller and stuff like that, and while the specs are horible by today's standards, it was quite an achievement back then. For more information, here's the video where I originally got the information from, enjoy!

Decided not to set up the #SteamDeck for development because that's not what I got it for, and without a PC it's been hard to move ahead with ideas for making it more #blind accessible with #NVDA. But I got it back a few hours ago and have started making some progress.

First up, a small NVDA script exposing a configurable gesture to exit a content recognition result. Without this, you can OCR fine from the touchscreen but can't close the resulting buffer to open another one later, meaning you needed a keyboard to OCR games. Now OCR-accessible games with controller support are fully playable with only the deck.

Next up, accessibility fixes to make this user-mode gamepad driver and configuration UI more accessible. I used it to play ShadowRine in its default configuration last night, but next I'd like to get it working with Hearthstone.

Getting there, and I'll do a guide on all this at some point.

#Minetest #SteamDeck #OnDeck It almost works, just some small issues with the controls and onscreen keyboard to fix

Inspired by yesterday's photo from @micahilbery of Thunderbird running on #SteamDeck, we wanted to kick things up a notch.

Here is Thunderbird 102 running like a dream on the Deck via an external monitor.

The new global font scaling feature is really handy for moving between this 4K screen and the Deck's built-in display!

(It's a proper workstation! The Deck is docked and hooked up to a webcam, System76 Launch keyboard, and other peripherals)
