Hi @frameworkcomputer, if your response to serious concerns against funding fascist projects is just going to be a typical FOSSbro response while ignoring and sidestepping the inherent problems outlined by the post, and keeping in mind the responder is Indian and also the founder of Framework, then: as an Indian member and active contributor to GNOME, please don't ever fund or sponsor GNOME.

The third morning marks the end of this first edition of Django On The Med 🏖️

It’s amazing how much we achieved in such a short time, with a small group of focused developers. 💪

The goal of the sprints has been fully reached. But the experience is not over yet, this afternoon’s rest and tonight’s dinner are part of the social side too. 🌅

If I had to highlight a key take-away from @ciura_victor's C++/Rust interoperability talk, that'd be that it's much easier to call Rust from C++ than C++ from Rust, which is indeed the case in my experience. Because many C++ language features have no equivalent in Rust.

I've been thinking about creators and distributors. picture a woodworker who crafts a perfectly balanced, minimalist chair. a furniture store loves it and starts selling it. but, to "match their brand", the store paints every chair bright green

customers see a green chair. they don't know the store painted it. they just assume the original artisan loves making bright green chairs. the creator's original intent and aesthetic are completely lost in translation, and their reputation is now tied to a choice made by someone else

this happens so often in FOSS. upstream developers create the "wooden chair", and downstream distros often paint it "green". there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it creates a gap where users blame the artisan for the paint job. it makes you think about where creative ownership truly lies

@radiorobbe That has to be coincidence, also baring in mind that OpenShell is the one currently maintained, whereas Classic Shell isn't. The start menu in win11 is to the point where it may be totally unproblematic today, but cause no shortage of issues tomorrow since it's a semi-serverside component because ads. OpenShell/Total Commander user here who has experienced performance benefit from having both installed.

Yesterday I felled the erge to compose or play something, and I was just browsing through sounds. I found this old little Piano track which appeared to be something by samsung. I liked it and started to play an e guitar melody to it. I was at that point just composing my own little track with this, looped this at the parts it fit in, played a bassline, and thought some other Samsung sounds on top, such as a keyboard typing metronome or some old notification sounds in the same cord wouldn't do bad either.
Here you go, enjoy what I got. For my first mix like that, I think I did quite well. But you're the judge. Lmk your thoughts.

If you're thinking of buying a @frameworkcomputer check this thread from their forum: community.frame.work/t/framewo…. Make sure to check their twitter stream too.

Personally the chances of me buying anything from them in the future is 0%.

spvm to buy a dystopian american mass surveillance product

some notes from the thread:

• American software collecting the movement history of all people in Montreal. Millions of hours of video will be sent to the US, and the movement history of all citizens will be potentially sold to the highest bidder.

• Software with very advanced capabilities accessible without a warrant by the police, such as chronological search (give me all the movements of this person over a year), facial recognition, alerts on individuals, and all the previously mentioned functionalities, etc.

• Complete loss of privacy for all people in Montreal, immediately. Privacy is dead the moment this system is connected and used by the SPVM.

• No strict judicial control, and data is not within our control. Valuable data going directly to the US and accessible without a warrant by the police.

• Police can access movement history without a warrant or validated by a judge ( think jealous police officer ex here )."

Shower thought: I wonder if any #blind kids today are growing up on espeak the way we grew up on eloquence? Is there a future where espeak is out of date and ancient, and people are clinging to it with the desperation people today cling to eloquence and dectalk? Honestly y'all, espeak read isn't that bad. I just wish espeak was usable on IOS; the available app is old and littered with bugs. #a11y#screenreader#accessibility

Michel voice variant for me. Or Michael, no idea why they both exist since they are identical, or appear to be.

That said, what about the bugs in the espeak app on ios? It works pretty decently for me here at least, the crackling issue only happens after past a certain speech rate and I've never had cause to go that far with it.

I know there is an issue on gh about updating it and the dev said it would be done, no idea where that went off to if anywhere.

Since Denmark can attempt another vote in December, it is important to stay vigilant. Both Italy and Sweden remain undecided while France remains supportive despite Chat Control being in direct violation of its Résilience bill explicitly forbidding both forced backdoors and client-side scanning.

Stay engaged!

Very dissappointing #Framework

If Framework made the business decision to fund anti-LGBTQ+ and white supremacist, then we shall make the business decision to not give them a red cent.

I bought a Framework less then a year ago to replace an aging and failing Dell XPS. While not perfect, I liked the repairability. Then I had to get the battery swapped a couple of weeks ago, and they made me think twice, but ok.

Right now I regret it. But I couldn't have known.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM Framework.

Nuremberg Trials & regrets -- failure to establish legal precedent for crimes against humanity & corporations.

IG Farben used its tissue-thin defense of "shareholder value", while armed services & public officials failed with "just following orders".

What would the world be today if we were able to charge Koch Network with crimes against humanity for ecocide ?

What would the world be today if we'd established a body of law to protect democracy from sociopathic corporations?

As the dark part of the year is closing in on us, once more it is time to be reminded of this PSA: The void is for screaming and the abyss is for staring into. Please don't scream into the abyss, it doesn't like it. Thank you for your kind attention.

Whelp we have a response from @frameworkcomputer and it’s extremely disappointing. Don’t buy Framework. They happily fund alt right bigoted groups and have no intention to change that. kolektiva.social/@Anarcat/1153…
