iirc: * pink phones only took ¥10 coins, up to 6 at a time * blue & yellow took both ¥10 and ¥100 coins * green took phone cards as well as coins * grey were the S-tier payphones -- they took *two* phone cards at once, so you didn't get cut off when your first phone card was used up. the only real option for making an international phone call

Hey @prism question for you. In WhatsApp, if I'm contacted by someone who isn't in my contacts, but I'd like to add them, there seems to be a difference in the pop-up I get whether I use VO actions to add a contact versus me double tapping towards the top of the screen on their number and going down to add a contact from there. If I open their detail page and create a contact, their info is filled in, including their name and number. If I do it using the VoiceOver actions, the only thing that gets filled in is their name. Would it be possible to change it so that the dialogue you get is consistent across both?
Hey sorry for the delay, I was on vacation and then sick. Where are you seeing a voiceover action to add someone as a contact? I don't see one for a message from a noncontact or from their entry in the chat list. Are you somewhere else?
FWIW, I don't think this is a voiceover issue; if you longpress and select add new contact from the menu that appears, you will also get a dialog where the phone number is not prefilled. That said I don't think it is intentional to have two different dialogs for the same flow, so I filed a bug. Thanks for flagging!

Reason is that Heise is part of the German lobby organization “Die Familienunternehmen,” which is problematic in itself – but that organization recently decided to cooperate with a German fascist party. My mum passed away 32 years ago. Every year her best friend (who had a hand in raising me after mum died) sends me a nice message. Every year - because my take on things is that any good news stories in my family are as a direct result of her kindness, love and patience - I send her a breakdown of all of the nice things happening with the kids. Every year she sends me a response to that, which hands down is fuckn hilarious. She's a no nonsense Austrian woman of advancing years, with an extremely dry sense of humour.

Been having Claude Code giving me "assignments" to help me learn a new (huge) code base and tbh it's working REALLY well. As a manager it's important I understand the technology my team builds, but I'm rarely writing much shipping code these days. I'm someone that learns by doing, so being able to plow thru a code base like a college CS assignment and by the end of the day have a solid understanding of how it works is a really cool use case!

Codestats, my small CLI tool to give you detailed analysis about a folder of source code, just got a new update to version 0.3.1. It adds many new languages (bringing the total up to 384), fixes a couple problems with language detection, and makes the tool run much, much faster by using more optimized string algorithms and memory mapping for large files! On my Linux machine, analyzing my home directory with absolutely no caches went from taking about 9.5 seconds to just over 8. OO, I'm about to update then. I did try it yesterday, and couldn't get it to ignore my virtual environment in python. I saw an option to force it not to respect a gitignore file so I made one ".gitignore", put "env/" in it, but it still included it in the analysis.
@bscross32 And just to be clear, the .gitignore is right alongside the env directory, correct? Codestats parses gitignores as it finds them on the path, not from the cwd.
Using an electronic signature stored on a hardware token is still a pretty sad story on #Linux. It took some figuring to make it available in NSS, but it's still broken in Papers and Okular and doesn't work at all in #Flatpak. 😞
yeah, it is lacking. But hardware tokens like Yubikey are still somehow supported. Much worse is support of key protected by #TPM2 chip. That is like non-existent on #Linux. Even though every Red Hatter has laptop with it's support. Why do you need token, when your device has secure storage built-in?

I probably lasted 45 minutes before disabling everything.
The initial "fascinating" nuance of having auto reply, suggestions, "intelligent" context recognition, and so on, quickly was replaced by annoying and incorrect results, constant interruptions and prompts and popups that made using my phone just painful.

(And circumstances don't look great for them—they appear to have destroyed lists of the copyrighted works they'd trained GPT on.)
The issue has been a major battleground in discovery. OpenAI could be on the hook for hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars if it was aware it was infringing on copyrighted material.
