The goal of the right, in its renewed effort to maintain and extend control over the world, is to once again crush people's dream of a better world. Today as Honduras' National Electoral Council finalized an unnecessarily lengthy process marred by accusations of fraud and inconsistencies, I remember Franz Fanon's words: "The settler's work is to make even dreams of liberty impossible for the native."
This is why anti-communist propaganda is so relentless even when it is inaccurate. For four years, in Honduras we had a self described socialist-democratic party. There was absolutely, no trace of communism in their policies or work. Nothing was taken from the rich, nothing was expropriated and yet the lie was repeated by local media over and over.
Today, the Nationalist Party was declared winner, with majority in congress, majority of local municipalities won over and a majority of regional deputies elected to the regional and permanent body of political and democratic representation of the Central American Integration System (SICA).
This was Trump's expressed will. This was the mandate of the U.S. That the nationalist party candidate be elected or else Hondurans would suffer "grave consequences."
