This is exactly what the Germans said during world war II. If you don't believe Alligator Alcatraz, and the detention centers ICE is running in Honduras, are concentration camps, you are just like the germans who claimed they were "just following orders". Your president is actively planning an armed invasion of my country of Canada, so don't expect any simpathy from me. Let's hope there will eventually be an equivalent of Nuremberg trials, and all of you enabling the modern SS will also get the justice you deserve.

I've gone through @bce 's product purchase process, including product browsing, configuration, adding to cart, viewing cart, and checkout pages to make sure they are accessible to screen reader users. I've replaced all tables with hierarchical headings, and made sure all inputs are labelled. I'm testing with LibreWolf on Debian with Orca. If any blind users out there could test with their setups and have any feedback, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Note that once this web software is stable, it will be released as FOSS to assist other blind entrepreneurs as well.

#introduction

Hello, I’m Colleen from Glasgow UK

I’ve found Mastodon in my decision to stop using FB/Insta/Threads etc, and so far am loving it - not least due to the lack of adverts :)

I’m an accountant by trade; pianist, dog and cat lover, and avid reader in my spare time.

#deltachat does

- no bindings to public handles/numbers

- no address-book upload

- not do public contact or group discovery

- not have critical persistent server state (!)

Social identification is private, between people though ephemeral #P2P #E2EE messages.

Servers see messages with random sender and recipient addresses, but those can not be mapped to a phone number or public handle. Servers see IP addresses. But you can use Tor, or a VPN, if you want to hide that.

It' not all bad :)

ArcaneChat reshared this.

This is how I felt when I discovered a wild amount of Québec government stuff (especially health care stuff) is stored on Azure servers in the USA.

Big challenge for me on Sunday was helping a local pal learn to use a laptop. This man is older than me and has never used a computer. He uses his smartphone for everything and wants to get a computer so he can, among other things, go to recovery meetings on Zoom (there aren't enough local in-person meetings). I have, as you might expect, many extra laptops. Figured we'd start with the basics (point, click, double click, click drag) and go from there....

My little brother (lives close to where Renee Good was shot & killed in Minneapolis) has been 3D printing ICE whistles & handing them out to neighbors & giving some to local businesses & churches to hand out. I'm really proud that his response is action, not fear.

The George Floyd protests play a part in this. The local places he knows will gladly hand out whistles are people he knows from 2020. All that commotion was NOT for nothing. A lot of people learned about organizing for the 1st time.

RE: mastodon.social/@hennavirkkune…

Dear #Mastodon this (quoted below) is the Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy of the European Commission. Who joined today (Jan 13). Great to have someone from the commission here.
🙌 🇪🇺 ✌️

Update/Good news: The mastodon.social account *was* legitimate, and has been migrated to @HennaVirkkunen
All people who were following on mastodon.social have been moved to follow that account. (Thx @dgoldsmith for the update🙏)

& thx @lexinova for keeping an eye out for us 🙏❤️

What #Grok generates is non-consensual and abusive. It is not "AI porn", it's AI sexual abuse materials. "#AISAM", let's call it.

Sex work is work, there are plenty of sex workers trying to make a living publishing their own works.

Conflating porn with sexual abuse materials is how we get to a place where independent sex workers get ostracized and lose their livelihood through being banned by payment processors, while a fascist oligarch can materially benefit from sexual abuse materials.

@blindbat84 It's surprisingly common to find fibre in the middle of nowhere, because lots of the nothinghams and boringvilles had no cable until the 2010s, by which point fibre was yubiquitous enough that companies decided to just build fibre infrastructure. It's harder to justify that in an area where you can already get gigabit cable. Sure, it's not symmetrical, but go survey a thousand Comcast users and ask them what their upload speed is, I dare you. Unless you're a YouTube creator, a tech enthusiast, or someone who relies on good upload for remote work, you don't know and you don't care.

@twynn @FreakyFwoof @simon @blindbat84 It won't matter too much. Connectivity outside of Vietnam is super slow. I have a friend who lived there for a while, and he told me that, with a Gigabit connection, the best he could do even to just the rest of Asia was about 2 or 3 Mb/sec. Even worse to North America. Fast inside Vietnam though.

Firefox 147 just landed & it's pretty huge in terms of web features:

🎉 CSS anchor positioning
🎉 The navigation API
🎉 View transition types
🎉 Brotli support in Compression/DecompressionStream
🎉 CSS module imports

And more!
