So I suppose I'm an outlier yet again. I hate talking to computers slightly
more than I hate typing on touch screens, I think.
More generally, I consider speaking to be a sort of ... effort. I can
get out of bed and type up very articulate emails, while my speech
is still at a sort of caveman level. Inarticulate grunts. Ugg need caffeine.
Ugg need wake-up juice to make Ugg go.
I wish I knew why that was.

I have a Lightning to USB adapter for the iPhone so I can plug in a physical
keyboard. I own an Atreus, a very tiny mechanical keyboard with 46
full-sized keys. The Atreus fits in my man-bag, or even in a sufficiently
large pants pocket.

@chris I dislike talking to computers because it doesn't have the level of precision, and of understanding how the computer actually handles my input, that I prefer. Of course, the same applies to a lesser degree to touch gestures. There's touchscreen Braille input, at least on the iPhone, but since I'm low-vision and my VI teachers didn't focus enough on making me learn Braille, I can still dictate faster, when I have to compose a text on my phone. Might be worth starting to practice though.

In plane tiling, it is completely standard that tiles may be reflected; nevertheless, some people were dissatisfied that the aperiodic hat monotile requires reflections to tile the plane. In our new preprint, we present the Spectre, the first example of a vampire einstein: an aperiodic monotile that tiles the plane without reflections. arxiv.org/abs/2305.17743

Hoy en el BOE tenemos lo que ya sabemos todos, el RD 400/2023 que disuelve las cortes. En el anexo está la división provincial, y se indica también en el cuerpo que la sesión constitutiva de las Cortes Generales será el 17 de agosto.

Por lo demás, se incoa el expediente de declaración de patrimonio inmaterial para los toques de guitarra tradicionales en el marco de las fiestas participativas. Un interesante cambio en el sistema de valoración de la discapacidad que permite el uso de medios telemáticos para gente que no pueda o deba desplazarse. Asuntos económicos: buena gestión, alguna iniciativa audaz.
Trabajo: excelentes iniciativas, gestión aceptable pero mejorable.
Transición ecológica: alguna buena iniciativa, falta de ambición, gestión mejorable.
Asuntos exteriores: buenos resultados pero malas prioridades, sobre todo fuera de la UE.
Justicia: manifiestamente mejorable.
Defensa: caca.
Hacienda: aceptable, pero con errores y demasiado restrictiva.
Interior: caca.
Transportes: buena gestión, alguna gran idea.
Educación: mejorable.
Industria: falta agilidad en la gestión y política industrial demasiado tímida.
Agricultura: mediocre.
Presidencia: aceptable.
Política territorial: aceptable.
Cultura: se pudo y debió hacer más, pero se ha avanzado.
Sanidad: el gran marrón de la legislatura. Dadas las circunstancias hay que aprobarlo, pero pudo ser mejor.
Derechos sociales: mucho más continuista, demasiada inercia.
Ciencia: creo que se hicieron cosas útiles pero tendrá que verse a más largo plazo.
Igualdad: alguna buena iniciativa, pero también mejorable. Incapacidad de negociación.

Hi everyone! My friend @ZBennoui has been having fun exploring Piper, and oh no, he’s gotten me into it too! Tonight, I trained my first really good model based on the RMS dataset from Festival. It is a US male voice. It has a more mono tone sound, which some of you may prefer. I have put it in a Google Drive folder along with Zach’s Scottish Female voice. Over the past year, I've been experimenting with neural text to speech in various forms. I have done hours of experimentation and research, training models and getting varying results along the way. Some of you may have heard of Piper, an open source synthesizer and add on for NVDA that can be trained by anyone. It is currently in active development, and I have been there from the beginning, testing and evaluating the various versions. For years, I have had a goal to create a high-quality voice that is truly usable by a screen reader user, and yesterday I managed to achieve this. I'm really excited to share Alba, a female Scottish English voice. I'm considering this a beta phase, and I'm looking for feedback to make improvements as needed. Please note that you will most likely get an error upon installation, however the voice should still show up to NVDA, and I'm working on fixing this as soon as possible.

According to Angela Saini, author of the new book THE PATRIARCHS, patriarchy begins with state power, and slowly works its way into families. In addition, men did not gain power over women by being "stronger." They did it by setting up networks of political support -- and by systematically dismantling support for women. Se me pasó contaros esto pero después de 135 días de huelga indefinida, desde el 12 de diciembre, finalmente las trabajadoras de Emtesport GANARON a la empresa. Lo más importante es que consiguieron un aumento salarial lineal de 1752 euros anuales a jornada completa. Pero también otras muchas mejoras, como el aumento lineal de 1 euro diario del plus de transporte y la contratación directa del profesor de boxeo subcontratado, que estaba cedido ilegalmente.

Esto no habría sido posible sin la solidaridad de otres trabajadores que aportaron a la caja de resistencia, sin la que no se habría podido resistir una huelga tan larga.
