I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to use a separate circuit breaker per socket but then wire three of them under one shared RCD so that (much more common) earthing fault in one socket will disconnect a group of three.
Putting there 6 two-pole circuit breaker/RCD combinations would take exactly the same space, provide full separation between outlets and would cost only a few euros more.
After the building's drain was finally unclogged yesterday, I noticed my siphon (P-trap) cleanout cap threading is imperfect, and water was slowly dripping out of it.
After cleaning the threading with a soapy toothbrush, I wrapped teflon tape (6 rounds, in the direction where you screw the cap on) on the thread, and used a Sharpie® to annotate my servicing technique (tool & rotation direction).
Forget pliers, use a jar opener; no excessive force, no damage.
This post got like 500 boosts and now all these computer people want to talk about package management so I think it's important to take a moment and show the new followers what I really care about: butts

research shows that computers are consistently better at solving captchas than humans are, but because everything has to scale infinitely people are proposing verifiable credentials stored on blockchains:

Last night Organic Maps was removed from the Play Store without any warnings or additional details due to "not meeting the requirements for the Family Program". Compared to Google Maps and other maps apps rated for 3+ age, there are no ads or in-app purchases, and no user information is collected in Organic Maps. We have asked for an appeal.
As a temporary workaround you can install the upcoming Google Play update from this link: cdn.organicmaps.app/apk/Organi…
This APK should work with Android Auto.

I love the Apple IIGS. It’s a great computer, but could it have been greater? The legend goes that Apple purposefully underclocked its CPU during development to avoid competing with the Macintosh.Dan Vincent (Userlandia)
This is why friends don't let friends buy app-controlled (or internet of things connected) domestic appliances.
It's always an excuse to up-sell you shit you don't need, and when that fails, the owners (not you, the corporations!) will jack up the rent.

Here's a video I want to age like curdled milk. Age so quickly it's out-of-date a week after it's made. The issues I've outlined here should be fairly simple fixes if they follow Apple's accessibility guidelines, so here's hoping someone at Floatplane Media can get some eyes on this.
I've tried to be as fair as possible, not just to make a 'bitch and ditch' style video, and to showcase the issues I have.
Please boost if you have an interest, or know that it can potentially reach someone who can make a difference.
Not my cup of tea to ask for those under normal circumstances, so I will not be making a habit of it.
Thanks.

Good morning everyone @Friendica Support
I would like to try to understand why from Friendica I can't connect to the Wordpress blog of @.mau. :friendfeed: already federated with @Matthias Pfefferle plugin, which is instead displayed correctly by Mastodon.
The blog is xmau.com/ while the user who publishes is @Notiziole di .mau.
If I paste the address of this post xmau.com/wp/notiziole/2024/08/…
in the Friendica toolbar, I get an error, while if I paste it on mastodon, I can view the post (here is an example: mastodon.social/@
Furthermore, if I try to search on Friendica for the user @Notiziole di .mau. I can see it, but if I try to follow it, I still get an error.
NB: I also have federation problems with Lemmy and not just with Friendica
Have any of you figured out what the problem might be that prevents Friendica and Lemmy from federating with that blog (but not Mastodon)?

Hi, thanks for your wonderful app. I am very grateful for all your work.
I've noticed the following case, when a caption for a video is long it covers the video controls.

in reply to daniel:// stenberg:// • • •Interesting! By default if a download fails halfway through, will there be a partially downloaded file kept around?
Meaning if I run this command the first time kicking off a download, but this download fails, the 2nd time I run it'll always skip since the file exists already.

in reply to daniel:// stenberg:// • • •Wouldn't a resume option do the same and more?
I could see where skipping files could be useful, but imho it's easy to deal with in scripts, resuming OTOH isn't and would skip files if the size match (possibly with a variant to skip if length can't be pre-determined or transfer can't be resumed...).
