If you are running on GoToSocial v0.17.3 or below, you should update to v0.17.4 as soon as possible. It's a very small update from v0.17.3 -> v0.17.4 as it contains only some code logic changes, and no database migrations.
In short, when a dereferencing bug is triggered under a specific set of circumstances it can cause loss of account data on affected instances. It's a rare thing to be triggered, but when it does happen it really, really stinks, and necessitates restoring from backup or manually editing the database to get things working again. (It's not possible to access or tamper with data by triggering the bug, only destroy it.)
We'll release a proper CVE for this in a couple of days when admins and packagers have had a chance to update.
Please note that folks who are already on v0.18.0-rc1 or latest snapshots are unaffected and do not need to do anything, as the bug occurs specifically in v0.17.3 and below. This means if you prefer to update straight from v0.17.3 to v0.18.0-rc1 then that's also an option; you can follow the release notes for v0.18.0-rc1 in this case.

6 books this week, although one was a very short fanfiction prequel and its successor, called Rise of the Wizards was rather venal.
Outstanding read this week has to go to Dan Frey's Dreambound, which I've already mentioned. I also reread the Heinlein classic Have Spacesuit, Will Travel, and an interesting twist on the murder mystery front with Memory Blank by John Stith.
This week's reading highlight was probably the second of the Brian Pinkerton novels: The Gemini Experiment follows attempts to transfer Human brains into cyborg bodies. Part of me thinks it's meant to be read entirely seriously, but then you get the whole Russian subplot and an utterly stupid action in chapter 15 which makes one think the author's partly playing it for laughs. Either way, a quick thriller which I enjoyed.

Bring back the vertical workspace layout in Gnome Shell. Screens have less rows than columns, you are cramming stuff in rows (I know there are extensions for that).
Gnome already is a much better experience than MacOS, you don't need to copy their choices.
Remember when MacOS copied application buttons inside decoration bars? They will also notice the single shell overview is much better than their fragmented spotlight-app grid-workspaces mess. Be a leader, not a follower.

I would guess that apart from the inferior performance in curl, server stacks have been fine tuning their implementations over the last years for other TLS stacks.
Probably not worth for them to invest in the OpenSSL unique thing when no benefits can be foreseen.
I only noticed it just now, but Google has collapsed almost all varieties of European voices in its GCP TTS library last month into just one voice per gender.
If any of your apps or services has been using its English (British) voices, they won't sound anything like they used to.
And if you used multiple voices (e.g. using different female voices for different female characters), they will now all sound like the same person.
