The new Terminal is Electron-based.

Electron broke NVDA support in 2024, and there hasn't been much movement since.

About all you can do is rant in this bugtracker thread: github.com/electron/electron/i…

Hi everyone, if you have ever been interested in listening to cylinder recordings from the late 1870's onward, here is a website which has preserved 10000 cylinders and digitized them so that people in the modern day can enjoy these early recordings for our listening pleasure. They have also a link to a list of just over 650 home recordings of people at the time who bought Edisons' Phonograph and used them in there houses and made recordings at the time on cylinders as well. The site describes this better than I can, but hope y'all enjoy. #History #recordings Overview | UCSB Cylinder Audio Archive cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/ove…

First there was iTunes video, then Apple TV+, and now just Apple TV. Apple's rebranding of Apple TV+ means that it now has Apple TV, Apple TV, and the Apple TV.

Hello everyone!

I want to order some stickers. Do you know a website which has high resolution pictures, or svgs?

I want pictures for #FreeBSD, #DeltaChat, #WebXDC, #OpenVoiceOS, #Alpine, #Emacs, #CommonLisp, #SLIME and #Luanti(#Minetest).

The website I want to order from already has got stickers for other things I want.

Boosts appreciated.

That's how it is done, folks. Took a while though.

ICE is quietly building up its ability to spy on Americans' phones. Earlier this month, the agency activated a $2 million contract with Paragon, a service that offers the ability to remotely hack into someone's phone. Last week, ICE entered into an $11 million contract for Cellebrite devices, which allow agents to break into a locked phone in their physical possession. reason.com/2025/09/29/ice-does…

allegedly, and from my perspective as a former calyxos employee (i do not represent them)...

the founder was the keeper of the signing keys, and has stated this publicly. when he separated from the institute (which is a whole other story), he didn't give the signing keys to the institute in a timely manner, if at all. although there was no evidence that the keys had been compromised or accessed from outside the organization, there *was* reason to believe that they had not always been handled in a secure manner (which is yet another whole other story). also, because these were key *files*, and probably not even protected by passphrases (but i don't know), copies were always *possible*.

the OS team decided to only release updates signed with *fully* trusted keys going forward, that were not subject to unauthorized copies. the OS team has been working on a hardware security module-based solution for signing. the exception to this was one last update to inform users about this situation, to the extent permitted by comms folks. this was facilitated by eventual cooperation from the founder.

that being said, i do not myself believe that there is any actual risk today associated with using a build signed with these older keys, apart from it not having the latest updates. but i also support switching to new keys that are better safeguarded, and i can't guarantee there wouldn't be a risk associated with these older keys in the future.

there is more to know as well, but too much to write here. still, it is false to say that the calyxos team doesn't want you to know this.

source: i worked on #calyxos while all this was happening. i no longer work for #calyx. and this is all just alleged, based on what i experienced and was told. i never signed an NDA 🙃

" For a few hopeful weeks this summer, a bright billboard on the major highway linking Toronto to New York greeted Canadian drivers with a simple message: “Buffalo Loves Canada.”

The marketing campaign, which included a $500 gift card giveaway, was meant to show Buffalo’s northern neighbors they were welcome, wanted and missed."

Sadly, to get to places in which Canadians are appreciated, we have to pass the gestapo, to enter and to leave.

The Columbus Day holiday began in the 1920s, when a resurgent Ku Klux Klan tried to create a lily-white country by attacking not just Black Americans, but also immigrants, Jews, and Catholics. In the 1920s, Columbus mattered because celebrating an Italian defended a multicultural society. Now, though, he represents the devastation of America’s Indigenous people.

Today, we celebrate Indigenous People's Day, to honor those who sacrificed so much when the colonizers arrived.

There’s an accessibility bug on Mastodon: you cannot add custom alt text to your profile or header image. This means people using screen readers can’t know what these images show, so important info is missing for visually impaired users. ♿

Please help by upvoting and commenting on the issue so it gets more attention from developers 👇

Greetings everyone. I have an awesome Netflix tip for those who use screen readers. If you are listening to an episode on Netflix and want to know about the episode, simply tab over to the episodes button and hit the space bar and then you can use H to jump to the next heading and arrow down to the episode in question that’s currently playing and it will give you a synopsis for the playing episode. If you want to know about other episodes that you are watching, hit enter on another episode on that same page and you can read a synopsis for that episode and once you have finished browsing the episodes, hit escape to return back to your Netflix screen.

I have a code that will give people preordering Glide 5% off. Disclosure: it also gives me more free months of their subscription plan when it launches. I know no one locally who is ordering, so if you're going to be in the second pre-order batch and want 5% off, let me know. I can only use this for 3 people. It'll be first come, first served. Please ping me only if you're actually ordering. Don't get the code as a "in case I order I'll have it" thing.
in reply to Zach Bennoui

@ZBennoui Originally it was, but they changed that a while back. As of now, and as far as I understand it, the subscription will only enable features like route following or advanced scene descriptions. The basics of avoiding obstacles, following sidewalks, and so on won't be locked behind a subscription. Of course, we'll have to wait for launch to see what the final details are.

attention, over forty queers:

do the thing. it is okay, you are not too old. besiders, older queers like us deserve visibility too. but for that to be happen, we need to make ourselves visible.

one of the most interesting and fun genres of online posts i see is zoomers and young millennials getting really hype cuz they found a video of like a 55 year old woman who picked up fortnight, or a 65 year old grandfather in a rap battle. no one is gonna laugh at you because people just kinda instinctively realize doing cool stuff when you are old is cool. so do the thing.

write fan fiction. start a blog about cool rocks. paint edgy horror art, dj a set, become a pro gamer. open furry porn commissions. learn guitar. change your career. write a novel. write a comic. do not march into the last half of your life with shame and regret in your hearts. you are beautiful and your passion is as radiant as the sun.

so do the thing.
