Many people still misunderstand screen readers — who uses them, how they work, and what inclusive design really means.

Ela Gorla has unpacked the most common myths and what they reveal about digital accessibility on the TetraLogical blog:

@clv0 Great question, and one I don't have an answer to. We were thinking that the whole exercise of updating the license might be an interesting case study to share in future (and that question might fit in such an analysis) - although I would add that we haven't started planning such an article or anything just yet - though as and when we do, it would definitely be mentioned in our blog (subscribe at nvaccess.org/newsletter ) and almost certainly here as well.

The #UnifiedPush website now has a section for talks, including the one I gave at #Datenspuren in Dresden last month.
Presentations and their video recordings are a great way to learn about new topics. Check it out: unifiedpush.org/talks/

@mynoise I’m a weirdo who doesn’t use a smartphone, however I recently purchased a Fiio JM21 MP3 player (which runs Android 13) to use for music, podcasts, audiobooks, and I was hoping the myNoise Android app as well. I can install every other audio player app I want, but for some reason Google Play tells me that myNoise is not compatible with this device. Is there a reason for that or anything that can be done? I love myNoise so this is a little heartbreaking for me.

This is what efficiency looks like at scale: an open server design that speeds up technician workflows and cold aisle containment. They have ventilation grids in the raised floor that deliver cool air straight where it’s needed. The payoff? Reliable & seamless operation for hundreds of thousands of systems, optimal temperatures, and reduced energy consumption.

Ať už vyvineme jakoukoli technologii, budou zapotřebí byrokratické instituce, které každý algoritmus zkontrolují a buď ho schválí, nebo zamítnou. Tyto instituce budou ve snaze zajišťovat bezpečnost a spravedlnost nových algoritmických systémů využívat schopností lidí i počítačů.

Vanadium version 141.0.7390.111.0 released

Changes in version 141.0.7390.111.0:

  • update to Chromium 141.0.7390.111
  • enable origin keyed processes by default for improved site isolation sandboxing
  • drop unnecessary code related to our search engine changes
  • replace enabling local network checks feature in Vanadium Config via the browser again (this was enabled upstream so we dropped our patch but then they disabled it again which we dealt with via Vanadium Config)

A full list of changes from the previous release (version 141.0.7390.70.0) is available through the Git commit log between the releases.

This update is available to GrapheneOS users via our app repository and will also be bundled into the next OS release. Vanadium isn't yet officially available for users outside GrapheneOS, although we plan to do that eventually. It won't be able to provide the WebView outside GrapheneOS and will have missing hardening and other features.

Once more, the specification for the #HTTP #QUERY method is in #IETF Working Group "Last Call"; see lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/i… and greenbytes.de/tech/specs/draft…. Feedback appreciated.

On this day seventeen years ago I learned something about locales and Turkish that has scarred me for life: I is not always uppercase i!

I don't know if it was from you but few years ago I've read an interesting article on false assumptions regarding languages (ie. In each culture people have a name and surname, people's name cannot have non letters symbols in theirs, etc...) where this inconsistent lowercase to uppercase matching was listed.

I cannot find it anymore but it was enlightening.

I made a thing called Wellness Ping because someone I care about went silent and it took too long for anyone to notice.

You get regular check-ins via email. If you don't respond, your emergency contacts get notified.

Built it for anyone who might go missing and needs someone to notice: activists, journalists, researchers, solo folks.

I paid for premium hosting (high-reliability VPS in Sweden) and a quality email provider because uptime actually matters for something like this. Also paying extra for minimal data retention (7 days email activity, working toward zero content storage).

Free forever (as long as I'm alive) and open source.
