We think we've possibly got a few followers and mutuals who are blind and use some kinds of iOS mobile devices, right?
Enquiring because of a random encounter with another plural trans+ being on Reddit, who advised that they're legally blind and had not found any suitably accessible way to access the fediverse.
Can anybody advise whether there are any such ways, so we can give them some way or ways to join the friendlier fediverse community?
If not, they're stuck largely with Reddit and Bluesky š š
The topic only came up after we advised that we'd found fedi to be much more plural friendly and accepting that most other such places... especially Reddit.
For clarity, we have zero experience of iOS and are not blind (at least presently at least), so we'd appreciate any firsthand experiences very much š«¶š»

Yeah that's fair. I have just read it's a 1.2 trillion -parameter model, that's quite insane. I wonder though if Google will update that as often as their own models, it might be that they still release newer models for themselves but then strategically hold the Apple one back a little bit, on the basis of "letting that model mature first." This will be interesting to see play out for sure.

Nah. Giving LLMs their identity is done in post-training, and Google can just remove that data for their posttraining mix for Apple. They're definitely going to have one. Since pretraining = ~60-90% of compute, redoing that part won't be that expensive. There are rumors that Google will only ship the base models anyway, and that all the fine tuning will be done internally by Apple (perhaps on Google infrastructure). Those base models have no idea what they are yet.
The most painful lesson I learned, and have yet to fully recover from, after losing the community I spent years cultivating when Twitter was sold, itās this: the ārevolutionā and change so many of you say you want will never be built in public, on platforms owned by people who not only do not share your values but who see them as threats.
At any moment, the communities, businesses, networks, and even friendships youāve built there can be taken from you because they were never truly yours.
