I don’t buy RedHat’s claim that the same people packaging LibreOffice are now building HDR support. That’s PR, it’s probably about easy layoffs.

#Flatpaks have worse desktop integration (think of different file pickers, compile flags for different media frameworks, etc.) and the space consumption is massive. Also, an inherent security risk if certain libs don’t get updated. This will be worse than the current situation. It will be the Log4j problem in a myriad clandestine ways.

audiogame-manager
stormdragon2976 pushed changes to the testing branch of the audiogame-manager project New Tolk changes pushed. if you have the old Tolk in ~/.cache/audiogame-manager, delete it and the new version will be downloaded on the next install. You can either reinstall existing STW and Christmas Chaos, or download the new Tolk.dll from stormgames.wolfe.casa/download… and replace the one in your current STW and Christmas Chaos bottles.

All this and STILL Apple and Tim Cook insist on advertising on Twitter. Why? Why is Apple okay with being bullied into sticking with this hate-filled, anti-women, anti-LGBTQ+ shit pile of a company?

Yes. It's a bit buried (github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/issu…) but improving the UX for drafts (and scheduled statuses) is on the cards.

I remember having seen a sign put up in a hospital floor, reading:

"Before discussing patient issues, please make sure to turn Alexa off."

Added to that print, hand-written:

"With a sledge-hammer."

^^ That.

In the "boss room" of IT, the boss of IT: "but it only listens when you say its keyword!" Me: Oh, fine then. But how does it know you said its keyword, boss of IT?" That face: Priceless.

Hey good people! Tomorrow is going to be the day where I turn 17. Which means I won't be a 16 year old developer anymore.

If you want to buy me an ice cream, or a nice little birthday gift you can do so in github.com/sponsors/LucasGGame…

Thank you for your awesome support!

#AndroidAppRain at apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid today wears a huge ☂️ and has a hole: about 20 apps fell out of it as they didn't see an update for about 5 years but contained too many non-free libs (incl. trackers). Weeding is only half complete, so expect more to go down the drain. If you find some oldies not working, please report!

On the pro side: about 5 apps got their anti-features removed, and you'll soon see why a given AF was applied. So stay tuned!

I'll have a few clips for #AudioMo this month, but to start with, both clips I'm posting in a thread were actually recorded today, so apologies. This first is a game on #Steam called 'The Vale' and I'm showing about 11 minutes of game-play, complete with my phone going off in the background. I'm hopefully not spoiling it necessarily, just doing a side-quest. Maybe it will persuade some of you to give it a go. You can listen direct in your client of choice, or by using the link to the audio file, as you wish.
I shall consider this post to be day 1: onj.me/media/Playing_The_Vale_…

Hi @leo, I sent this to you on twitter before remembering that you have a presence here. I just noticed that twit.tv has an accessibility overlay now. Please, make sure that UserWay does manual testing by actual disabled users, not just automated scanning and remediation. If not, the AI is likely to break accessibility rather than improve it. AudioEye is the only vender I know does this for sure, but others might too. Just please check into it. overlayfactsheet.com

Let's see how this pans out. Reddit is starting to charge for API calls (like Twitter), which creates a massive inconvenience to moderators, the unpaid volunteers that make Reddit less of a toxic cesspool. Mods use third-party tools to do their work, since Reddit's own tools are inadequate for the job.

One of his most underrated songs. By the way: I recently discovered that George Michael’s albums are reworked in 3D audio on Apple Music now. Gives them a whole new and deeper sound. And because in many of the 3D mixes, compression and other artifacts are turned down, or off, most instruments sound more natural. I like this 3D Audio trend a lot.

#MutualAidRequest

My queer platonic partner Luke and I are both trans, neurodivergent, and disabled. We are currently homeless and living out of our van with our two cats.

We are in need of mutual aid donations to help us be able to afford food, gas, and other necessities, along with our phone bill on the 4th of $100.

My CashApp and Venmo links (handles:$magicalgrrrl/@magicalgrrrl respectively) and Luke's PayPal (@LouieSJ) are in my linktree: linktr.ee/magicalgrrrl

Please help a couple of homeless queers survive during #Pride month

potential dysphoria, mis-gendering

I got this ad/letter from Grüne Erde.
grueneerde.com/?sourceTLD=de

It is an Austrian company that manufactures and sells sustainable, organic furniture, bed room stuff, and so on. Imagine a small "Bed, Bath & Beyond" but really everything organic, sustainable and preferably local.

I bought a few items there and I usually really like how they approach all the sustainability topics, and would like to continue buying stuff there.

The "Herr Imdat" (Mr. Imdat...) is ok because I registered there before I came out and never bothered to correct it.

But the "Liebe Kundin/lieber Kunde" is NOT ok ("Dear [female] customer/dear [male] customer"). But... this letter is from their local branch, so, I'm on my way to fix this stuff in person...

I'll report back. Stay tuned.

Seems to me that, at least in most cases, companies just don't need to know their customers' gender. If I remember correctly, all the times I've implemented a registration form for an online service, I didn't prompt for the customer's gender. Not because I was aware of gender issues (I certainly wasn't when I started in the industry over 20 years ago), but more out of laziness.

@matt In Germany, alas, usually they want it because of the super-gendered language and the fact that they really want to have different salutations. But here, it is just plain stupid.

Companies who want to be neutral use the salutation “Good day firstname lastname”, but others still stuck to this stupidity.
