In times when Reddit fades away, accessibility-wise, the dev of HackerNewt, a pretty new HackerNews iOS client has submitted their first #Accessibility patches. The work is not complete yet, but this is the best I've seen in a HN client so far with almost everything labelled. The proper grouping of items and rotor actions are still planned. @queenslight Haven't tested any so unfortunately I can't recommend anything. There was a supposedly good one mentioned in the HackerNewt discussion on the HN itself but I haven't noted down the name back then.
@glaroc It's a client to have an easier time browsing HackerNews, a site where people post links to projects, articles, videos etc. that sparked their intelectual interest and want to have a discussion about it. If you're into tech, science, culture, language etc. you will enjoy yourself browsing it.

But it also got me thinking about my own dabbling with ChatGPT to _write_ fiction. Probably not for sale, but I might have a story that I actually want to tell, and I've been using ChatGPT to write it. And now, because I'm prone to wanting to pass purity tests, I'm thinking of throwing away that ChatGPT output and starting over from scratch. 2/?
But, I didn't simply ask ChatGPT to write the story. I've been prompting it to write one scene at a time, sometimes with fairly detailed prompts, and then I edite the results. And I wonder if that's so bad. I think ChatGPT is better at writing a first draft at a scene than I am (note that I'm a total dilettante at fiction writing), particularly at writing descriptions and coming up with incidental details. For those things, it has a better imagination than I do. 3/?
But maybe what's really happening is that I'm plagiarizing the people who wrote all the text in that giant training dataset, and benefitting unfairly from their skill and imagination. And if that's so, then that does seem wrong, even though my level of work is more than a simple "write a story about X" prompt. 4/?
So, maybe I really should throw away that story I've been prompting ChatGPT to write one scene at a time, walk away from that side project until I'm sure I won't quote any of the ChatGPT-generated text verbatim, and only come back to it if I decide to write the whole thing myself, the tried and true way. What's wrong with a little bit of both approaches? I think people could use Chat GPT constructively to help them come up with new ideas, move beyond writer's block, etc.
To me, an AI does just as much plagiarization as an author who read those stories, probably even less because of the sheer amount of content it has access to. If a human author is writing fantasy, they’re almost inevitably drawing on Tolkien, because everyone in fantasy is drawing on Tolkien. If you write Sci Fi, you’re probably drawing inspiration from those guys in Slovakia who invented the idea of robots. You learned to write by reading how others write. Why is an AI any different? I really don’t get where people see the difference.
I think it’s fine to use it as a tool to support you saying what you want to say yourself. The main problem is the extreme where people spent less time prompting for something than it takes to read.
In the end, though, there’s not really a difference anyway. What counts is the trust of the people who take the time to gift you their attention to read…

Alright, here's a response article to @martijnbraam's "Developers are lazy, thus Flatpak". I'll be addressing some of their claims by explaining why some of the design decisions make sense the way they are.
Recently, the article “Developers are lazy, thus Flatpak”, by Martijn Braam, was published to criticize a few things regarding Flatpak. I want to go over the article and address some points that were raised.
When I see the mess that are distro packages. For example on Fedora Exiv2 is build with BMFF off which mean that some camera format are not supported... so it breaks my app. (I could also say why that kind of option is wrong too)
