*sigh*

Let's face it. I'm old, and not likely to get up on stage much anymore.

It's time to thin the herd. There's a few I'm going to keep (Jenny, Li'l Red, and Spellcaster), but the rest?

Up for grabs. Including Stingkitty (asking €250). and Badtz (asking €300). Prices include Gigbag und shipping. Within reason.

Absolutely no reason you should have to give up playing if you don't want. Consider jamulus.io, software that since the pandemic, I've been using to play/make/create music with new and old friends online from the comfort of my home. Think way glorified zoom/teams but *proper* stereo audio, clean, tasty, fun and just so much vibe and energy.

We're 1000% better than this now, but consider this video recorded what, must be 2.5 years ago now. We've subsequently written tons of new music, some of us having never met in-person, all using this software. youtu.be/WjmXZ5DLJ2E

Let me post this again, because it's great to see that a privacy and security minded company like @Tutanota takes the daunting arrival of quantum computing very seriously.

They're working on the first consumer post quantum encrypted cloud storage service. A timely anticipation on this development is very important since encryption (which is secure now) will be broken in a matter of seconds once quantum computers will be used for hacking. #PqEncryption #QuantumComputing

Hey, @Tutanota, could we have custom time periods for event reminders, please? :mastoinnocent:

I'd really love to get a reminder exactly 2.5 hours before an event, but currently, I can only choose between 30 minutes, 1 hour and 1 day. Also, the earliest reminder is 1 week before the event, so there's no way to have #Tutanota remind me a couple weeks before someone's birthday to buy a present… :mastosob:

Allowing a custom number before the noun shouldn't be too hard, I think ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok this just sounds dangerous.

Overland Park neighbors stretch extension cords across streets to share power: kshb.com/news/local-news/overl…

The cords would get run over and frayed, not to mention potentially overloading circuits and maybe causing a fire or getting shocked.

Adam Conover's activism has been refreshing to see during the writer's strike: not just picketing the studios but educating the public about what a union does and how a strike works at the same time. It's also fun to hear about other entertainers I admire working hard to support the picket lines. #Labor jacobin.com/2023/07/adam-conov…

@BorrisInABox I believe so? There is an alpha experiment for Projects which is their editor for longer text, but they seem to use it as a gateway for all their alpha experiments and V2 is one of them. I don't have the link handy but it is in their discord, can grab it later. But I think they rolled it out to everyone by now? I am on the creator tier but I don't think that is necessary?

So, I've decided to drop this giant non-enshittified Python course out there for your ongoing amusement. github.com/dabeaz-course/pytho….

It's the same course I took on a decade-long world tour of corporate training. Some people who took it went on to do dumb things like land rovers on other planets and stuff. Anyways, enjoy!

And there is also native JSON REST API by NS which is my current toy 😁

In 1920, Mamie Smith became the FIRST Black American to record a Blues song. "Crazy Blues” ushered in a new era of "race records.” Previously, white singers copied Black vocal styles in blues recordings, while Black entertainers like Ma Rainey, Ethel Waters, & Bessie Smith were confined to the "Chitlin Circuit." Mamie Smith’s success paved the way for black blues & jazz musicians to thrive.
