Okay, so I had to. Tom Lehrer's ode to, She's my girl! Creepy, but a bit funny. He has so much content that might be questionable these days taken out of context.
So today's Tom Lehrer's tribute is an obscure, (well, obscure for me), something entitled the political song. I figured this would work very well with punk rock... and it did. Have a listen:
If you ever have to read anything boring or drpressing, the solution is to use a narator, virtual or otherwise, who is not associated with that kind of material. Here is an example, lets see who is the first to guess the voice.
I wanted to see if I could make a promo with AI that would be good enough to pass inspection by yours truely, and the short answer. I couldn't. I used chat gpt, index tts for the speech, mainly because its the new toy, but used eleven labs for the music, also because that part is another new toy. I still had to generate multiple beds before I was ok with the result, and nothing mixed well without more plugins than should be permitted by law.
Also I'd love to boost this but I won't boost audio without a description, in the same way I don't boost images without description. If we want parity, we need to be the ones that push for it the hardest. If sighted people should be held accountable for adding alt-text to images, so should we for audio, so that our deaf followers, and people that just want a summary of what we're posting, also benefit. These are just my opinions and may not reflect those of anyone else... Or something.
I was today years old when I learned that you can press control+shift+6 in file explorer to force a folder to display in details view. This makes me happier than it should, especially in folders where windows insists that it knows what view is best.
Tonight, I will be demonstrating my Meta glasses to the Lions club. Is there anyway, short of some sort of acoustic coupling, to get the voice of the glasses to go to a speaker of some description? in other words, I can get to the phone to the glasses, but can I get the glasses to a speaker?

I guess I need Docker Basics 101, since I don't really have much experience with it.
I have built the thing based on it's included docker file. Now I need to add this private key before launching it with docker run.
The README expects one knows how to actually use docker, which I suppose is fair. So, do I run a minimal something so I can shell into it and create files before running the complete environment, or what?
It's time for a nap. I think we're going for Thai food tonight. I think I'll have crab rangoon for an appetizer and tamarin duck for my meal. If the weather cooperates tomorrow we'll go to Dots for breakfast and the last flea market of the year.
Thai food is always good. There's a food truck a couple blocks from me, and now I seem to have made it a bit of a routine to order pad Thai and Thai iced tea from there at the end of the week.

Today my fishmonger Fran in el mercado Salamanca, had some really wonderful clams - almejas de carril. Just the right size, not too big, not too small.
I'm making a sofrito. Just with an onion and two tomatoes, finely chopped, and some salt.
The trick is to let the onions cook slowly. In Spanish, this is called ‘pochar’ - to poach in oil. It gives the onions a complexity of flavour, and then once they’re translucent, in go the finely chopped vine tomatoes (I peeled these, because they’re delicious but the skin is a little tough) again, simmering slowly, to bring out that magical change that happens to slow cooked tomatoes. #cooking
One of the things I love most about a lot of Spanish #cooking is that, often, there aren’t a lot of ingredients. The object is to let the few that are there shine. Which is why we’re so picky about ingredients down here. Good olive oil, good tomatoes, good onions, good clams and a nice manzanilla to steam the clams in with some garlic.
The complexity of flavour tends, I think, to come from the method of cooking, rather than seasonings.
I've officially finished the email<=>XMPP gateway grant 🎉. Lot of stuff done. The gateway is working but there are still things to do, notably finishing the e2ee encryption which is complex.

I go to download an iso from download.opensuse.org in order to test something, and it gives me a 302 and redirects me to mirror.tspu.ru. I presume it sent me to a mirror at random. I feel like this shouldn't happen--I am nowhere near Russia, and, of course, the download is taking forever.
