#Phosh 0.43.0 will have a simple Pomodoro quick setting. Here's a short demo: phosh.mobi/videos/pomodoro-qui…

I've been aware of the existence of gitlab.com/kop316/phosh-antisp… for quite a while, but didn't pay too much attention as I didn't need it... Until I did!

Thanks @kop316 for this now-mandatory piece of software ❤️🎉

Dear distro maintainers and "i build my own stuff" people:

In case you want to check out 0.42.0 upfront: we've tagged the first releases candidates of #phosh and related components today. Release is planned 2024-09-30 (gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/p…)

We have some more fixes pending but the bulk of things should be in.

Another small detail: I often need to scroll up in #chatty to reread something when composing a msg. Going back to the last msg of the conversation by taping the 🔵 would close the ⌨️ forcing me touch into the text area again (and causing visual distraction). We can fix this by having the 🔵 not take focus.

Posting this to demo it can be a one line change in a UI file to make #LinuxMobile work better. So please get involved! #Gtk 's GtkInspector is great to figure such things out.

#phosh

It's the small things: If you've been bothered with #calls and #chatty seemingly starting up slowly in #phosh (while most other apps startup fast): I've posted MRs to fix this in chatty and calls (which then also prompted a small fix in phosh). Here's a quick demo of calls before and after the change:

I released #GNOME #Calls 47.0 yesterday 🚀 \o/

This is the first release running #gtk4 and #libadwaita

Thanks a lot to everyone who contributed code, translations and bug reports!

Find the release notes at gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/calls/-…

And of course, it has already been uploaded to :debian: 🎉

phosh 0.41.1 is out 🚀📱:

This is a bug fix release addressing important issues in #phosh (quick setting related crash) and phosh-osk-stub (swipe gesture usability, unswap backspace/enter) that shouldn't wait 'til 0.42.0. Check out the release notes at phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.41.1…

🙏 to everyone who contributed to this release.

Earlier this cycle Teemu Ikonen added support for displaying track position / length and a progress indicator to #phosh's media player widget 🥳 :

While @suraj_sloth is working on the #UnifiedPush connector side in #Chatty I got a chance to add the code for registering/unregistering #Matrix push gateways in #libcmatrix and Chatty (with this I can readily round trip messages up to the UP distributor):

#phosh #LinuxMobile #adwaita #gtk

So far you had to pull out #phosh's top and bottom bar quiet a bit to make it unfold. That's kind of o.k. on 📱 like the #Librem5 or #PinePhone but can be cumbersome on larger phones like the #OnePlus6T or tablets like the #Librem11. I've put out an MR for #phoc which adds a fling #gesture so you can also fold/unfold with a fast swipe. Here's a short video demoing this for different screen sizes:

🚀 📱 phosh 0.39.0 is out. Some highlights:

- #phosh: folder support, night light quick setting
- #phoc: wakeup-key handling (to prevent accidental unblank)
- #squeekboard: New layouts, lots of layout improvements
- mobile-settings: Allow to manage custom quick settings, allow to toggle whether to ignore hw keyboards, many new translations

Want to build your own lock screen widget or quick setting in #phosh? @arunmani explains how that works in phosh.mobi/posts/custom-plugin… 🛠️

With a bit of help from #phoc the next phosh-osk-stub release can (optionally) hide when a keyboard gets attached.

Ability to easily build custom keyboard layouts is really awesome.

Thanks you @agx

It’s not just the Librem 5’s or The Liberty Phone hardware that’s modular. The OS itself is incredibly modular and fully editable to your will. Our defaults and preinstalled apps are well thought out and secure, but it’s just our suggestion of software to use, not a requirement by any means.

phosh 0.35.0 is out 🚀📱:

Among other QoL improvements this fixes the suspend inhibitor when using your phone as a WiFi hotspot and gives more screen estate due to a narrow home bar (by mathew-dennis),

phosh 0.34.1 is out 🚀📱:

This fixes two user visible regressions that crept into 0.34.0.

Last week I finished my fake/example/reference linux #UnifiedPush distributor written in rust.
This week I started at looking into implementing a distributor with ntfy.sh, I am currently unsure about integrating into an existing app like Notify or building a separate application.
You can find my progress here: gitlab.com/j0dev/rust/up_ntfy_…
I am also looking into a DBus api to manage/configure a distributor for integration into desktop environments like #Gnome / #Phosh.

@dino 0.4.3 just got released with some exciting improvements for #LinuxMobile

1. Several fixes for touch input, making audio/video calls actually usable on phones
2. Fixes for video support so devices with #libcamera / #pipewire support like the #PinePhonePro work now
3. The app is now recognized as mobile friendly on #Phosh
4. Stricter #Flatpak sandbox - no device/all any more

The new version is available on #Flathub and lots of distro repos.

phosh 0.29.0 is out 🚀📱:

this will be a great help for #phosh allowing to pick some things from the wlr and others from the GNOME portal. Great!

!Friendica Support

Bit of a an odd mood to today so wanted to check if I can brighten things up a bit by adding some color and transparency to #phosh. (Basically just a quick hack to see how the performance is on the #librem5 and it's quite good). Background image by @francois .

I felt a bit bad since I didn't show #phosh's overview in the above (which was totally broken at that point). So I did a quick stab yesterday to hack the missing bits in. It's usable now (still mostly a hack to get into the design discussion with @purism 's designers):

phosh-osk-stub will soon be able to turn on completion opportunistically: When the text-input has the "completion" hint set it's turned on, otherwise it defaults to off. E.g. it's disabled in #chatty's search field but automatically switched on in the chat view :
