@IzzyOnDroid I'm using the media player Tempo from your repository but the dev changed signing certificate in August 2024 github.com/CappielloAntonio/te…
in reply to IzzyOnDroid ✅

the name on the cert is still the same of the dev, plus he put the city where he lives. The old cert expired in 2050 while the new in 2029 - maybe he changed it because too long expiration was a bad practice or maybe he simply didn't realize that the cert is important - there's no mention of the change except "The app will still get updates. I can't release right away unless I fix the install error that some devices continue to have." - yes with a different cert updates will fail 🙂
in reply to dandandin

Everyone could create such a cert. Yes, expiration time *might* have been the reason. The original key *might* have been lost (accidentally deleted, computer crash, whatever). But it also *might* be someone who got control over the repo but not over the keystore – which is why we need to verify, see e.g. [How to keep your key safe and what measures to take for the event of loss?](f-droid.org/2023/09/03/reprodu…)

If you're ever taking trains in Europe, please checkout Chuuchuu:
chuuchuu.com

It's a great site that uses historical train delay data to better estimate good train rates and realistic transfer windows between trains and such.

It seems like a must have to me but doesn't seem to be that popular yet

EDIT: they're on fedi now! Go follow: @chuuchuu

@accessibleandroid Hello! I found a solid ebook reader on F-Droid, LXReader. TTS reading is really customizable. Although the app have some unlabelled buttons, they just expand certain options in the UI that are readable.

"You know what? Elon Musk did say before the election that he was going to inflict pain on the American people. So I guess in that regard, a promise is made, a promise is kept from this administration because people are feeling the pain."

"Assuming that the past six weeks are predictive of what’s next, expect an age of anxiety; expect the elimination of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of jobs; expect the decimation of liberal institutions to go on for all four years of Trump’s second term; expect government services to deteriorate; expect reduced funding of the safety net; and expect more homelessness, hunger and disease."

People who think the auto industry could quickly pivot to being entirely made in the US are deeply ignorant about how fragile assembly lines operations are. Any supply disruption can shut down the whole line. There isn’t slack in the system and even the equipment itself is so highly specialized it’s not simple to stand up a new factory. toad.social/@KimPerales/114104…

Here’s something important to know about all of the Republicans who are clapping as Trump attacks Social Security: All of them will be returning to their states and districts next week for congressional recess.

Trump said he is going to deport more people than Eisenhower. For those who aren’t students of history, his choice of comparison proves his absolute racism against Latino people.

Tonight, at #Trump’s speech, members of the #Democratic #Women’s Caucus — will be dressed in a bright pink.

New Mexico Rep Teresa Leger Fernández, chair for the 96-member caucus, explained to Time that the pink is meant to “signal our protest of Trump’s policies which are negatively impacting women & families.”

#Trump outlined a vision of American #expansionism: building up our naval capacity, reclaiming the #PanamaCanal, & pledging to “get” #Greenland, “one way or another.”

He didn’t mention his aim to make #Canada the 51st state. But that may be because he doesn’t want to get into the horribly idiotic & disastrous #tariffs he placed on Canada & #Mexico today.

I've talked to folks working at the moving company that @transworldexpress mentioned as being willing to help move trans folks from red states to blue ones now. They're definitely legit. Yes, brand new website from a template, and a brand new company, but I trust them to do what they say on the tin.

Note that I'm not saying you should take my word for this — vet them in exactly the same way you vet every stranger on the internet offering to help, but do get in touch if they can help you.

NEW: As Skype is about to be shut down, I looked at its most important legacy: giving end-to-end encryption to the masses.

Today, end-to-end encryption is baked into our most used chat apps. In 2003, putting that technology into a popular chat and calling app was nothing short of revolutionary.

And ever since it launched in 2003, Skype freaked out authorities all over the world, from Italy’s cybercrime police, to the Egyptian intelligence service.

Apple news is good fodder for blog posts and podcasts as a conduit for critiques and complaints, but more people in the community—not pointing a finger at Matt here—should be mindful that not every Apple product has to be for you. Also, not every product launch must be a spectacle.

Someone proposed that LEGO make a set for the Stonewall National Monument in New York. It seems really well-designed to me, and LEGO's policy is that if a proposal gets over 10,000 votes, they'll actually consider it and respond. It's sitting around 9,500 votes right now. You can vote for it at the link below.
