My next adventure is figuring out Linux, to be specific, it's gonna be Ubuntu 25, on my Medion Laptop which won't be helpful running Windows anymore since it already consumes 5/8GB Ram idling around. And I wanted to build myself an own opinion on Linux and it's accessibility for a while now. Already got the installer to talk, though I haven't installed it yet. Firstly had to figure out how to boot into that thing cuz each Laptop manufacturer has it's own magic procedure that might or might not work to get into whatever kind of boot menu they decide to add or don't. Anyway this evening I hope I can get through the setup process. I have already spend to much time with it yesterday lol, went to bed at 1 AM on a work day.

Is BlueSky meant to function currently? I am feeding it my handle and app password but keep getting a 401 back. things I've tried:
- Try clearing the instance URL as i's set to bsky.social, not blank as the hint implies - Use my handle with and without @ and with and without the instance url appended.
401 reason is invalid identifier or password, but I just grabbed the app password from bSky five minutes ago and even granted DM access. Any clue what might be happening?
huh. Can you at least clarify the exact format the dialog wants? like ... do I leave the URL filled in, and do I put the @ sign in front of the username@bsky.social for it to work?
- I'd love for custom timelines to persist after exit, not sure how doable that'd be - On Windows 11 it looks like the alt+win+arrow keys don't currently work for me, they do work in TC so I'm not sure what the difference is there. Ok so I have to say this is getting awesome. I think lists actually work great now and respect all the preferences I set, hide boosts directly from the profile is great to, yeah this is very likely going to be the Tweesecake replacement in, well, now I guess.
Also, you don't have the screenreader repeating itself all the time, like the UI is still very intuetive and easy to adapt quickly from Tweesecake, while not beeing that, oldschool and rather modern. Really nice. I would like to propose a drafts feature.
Ok, 2 bugs though, and maybe a little feature thing. 1. Editing a post in which you mention other users doesn't put back in the full handle. So let's say I'm mentioning @Bri, send that post, then edit it, it'll only put @Bri back in the box, which probably then causes issues with the mentioning. 2. Same for new lines in a post. Let's say I make a post saying "I like:\nEggs", \n for the new line, then edit the post, I'll get "I like:Eggs" back in the box. It does not respect new lines. Same for Bios and other stuff. I'd prefer having the original new lines rather than that weird breaks.
Also in the profile fealds it says one per line, but some of my stuff is just longer than what the thing whants to display in a line. I end up with something like: Web: https://jonathan85 9.com
Ok sorry for the spam, but apparently when viewing a post it just makes space for a new line, and not actually, a new line? See my previous post as example. The 9.com should've been a new line, at least I pressed shift enter lol. It also works in the post input box. You can see how the post is actually supposed to look with TC for example.

Copying an item in the conversation (DM) timeline just puts $text$ instead of the actual text. Copying an item which is a boosted post, e.g. someone boosting someething and you wanna copy that, it'll just copy something like "Codeberg boosted Forgejo: " with no content.
@jonathan859 I agree, this is getting very quickly towards a TC replacement, if it hasn't reached that point on the whole yet. In many cases, of course, it has already passed that point.
I will say that our puppy socks has the cutest little bark ever. I’ve got a recording of it sitting in my Voice Memos. But I think he’s gonna be one of those dogs that likes to be around people. He tends to whine or follow us around the house when we’re moving around and doing other things. He just loves being around all of us. and he loves to play first thing in the morning when we all wake up.

Okay so tonight I have to brag. So with Termux, Emacs, and Emacspeak, there were 2 big problems I still had from when I got AI to rig DecTalk up. First, the tone used for "blank line" and indentation was not working. Second, after a while the Emacspeak sounds would stop working even though DecTalk still was. So, Claude Code, Opus 4.5, fixed the tone issue, something about sox and Termux specific stuff, and made the Emacspeak sounds thing less of an issue than it was. It still happens, but on first launch without putting Termux in the background and such, it stays alive.
The coolest part, I was using Claude Code inside of Termux on the bus going out to eat. And by the time I got home, it was all fixed!

I voted "Characters" because it's what it's set to right now, but I change it extremely frequently. Always between characters and off, though; never words in any form.
I should say that my previous explanation was for NVDA. On iOS I usually have it set to words to detect when autocorrect has changed them.
I absolutely feel faster with it set to off as well though. I just turned it off to type this reply, but like to have character echo when doing anything with numbers, dates, etc.
@jscholes Indeed, my iOs braille screen input is set to words, because making typos there is less obvious than on a physical keyboard. No autocorrect for Estonian on iOs though so it doesn't change what I type.
@jscholes very limited sample size and not with any allusions of it being scientific, but I have found through teaching both children and adults how to type, that one of the biggest ways they improve their speed is by turning offany sort of typing echo.
You cannot just write "potato is being blocked on my laptop" as the subject of your support request, and then just leave it at that. I don't know, either. Knowing computer people though, there are probably seven different incompatible versions of potato, and "potato" could be anything from a word processor to a network diagnostic tool. You thought I was joking, huh? So did I! But googling for potato software reveals an AI tool for biologists, some kind of audio mixing tool, an instant messenger, a text annotation tool, a background transcription tool, and more. All of these programs are all called just "potato". Also, the AI answers above the search results happily tell me, with no context: "Start using potato in your project by running npm i potato. The children components of your potatoes may themselves have components and your potatoes might rapidly look like small tree-like structures of components." I'll...get right on that. Potatoes that look like trees and have children is the one thing all of my projects are missing!

@Bri It seems like their focus is really on the invisible interface, the GUI has lots of access key conflicts and for instance I can't tab to reply on the notifications buffer, it just has a post button and dismiss button.
@Bri Also, I can't figure out, when I get mentions, I'm hearing mention sounds plus what sounds maybe like a added to favorites sound? Or is there a general event sound? It's like 3 sounds at once and hard to discern.

I've gone through @bce 's product purchase process, including product browsing, configuration, adding to cart, viewing cart, and checkout pages to make sure they are accessible to screen reader users. I've replaced all tables with hierarchical headings, and made sure all inputs are labelled. I'm testing with LibreWolf on Debian with Orca. I don't have a reliable way to reproduce, but NVDA sometimes activates the audio ducking and never releases the volume until I restart NVDA. I even have no ducking mode set in Audio Settings. Anyone has this issues? I'm using NVDA 2025.3.2 on Windows 10. @NVAccess

My poor computer! I don't know why it's been so sluggish and weird lately. It's acting like tasks that it used to be able to perform no problem without even batting an eye before are just so much of a bother for it now. This is even a pretty fresh windows install.
@serrebi I have a slow system downstairs that I don't really care for. I turned off restore points and now I like it again. I also made the page files static instead of dynamic. Just less background crap happening. I used to turn off indexing, but can't remember if I did that on that rig.
Social identification is private, between people though ephemeral #P2P #E2EE messages.
Servers see messages with random sender and recipient addresses, but those can not be mapped to a phone number or public handle. Servers see IP addresses. But you can use Tor, or a VPN, if you want to hide that.
i created an account on a laptop, and logged with my phone trough QR, but my desktop (i logged trough backup), don't seem to take in things like contact that add picture etc, when both mobile and laptop do.
I used it a little bit now for testing and so far it works quite well for private messaging - although I noticed by design the use case seems to be for communicating with people you already know, right? Like public online community chats like irc or matrix does not seem to be in scope if I understand it correctly? (hence no public delta chat group exists, I assume?)

@cordova5029 Yep. It's a weird multi-function radio thing that can access AM, FM, Shortwave and VHF bands, play audio files from USB drives and MicroSD cards, and act as a Bluetooth audio device among other things.
