it's crazy that we do this. Sometimes my dog refuses to eat her chicken until it has been washed again or set out for a while (as the chlorine will break down, faster with direct UV light). She must be able to smell it even when we can't.

makes you wonder how much chlorine Americans are ingesting every day

Welcome to the RB family, Interstellar 🥳

apt.izzysoft.de/packages/one.j…

Interstellar is a Fediverse client for Mbin/Lemmy/PieFed accounts. Having found the final culprit that kept it from being RB (after 6 months, and it was just a single thing to toggle! RBs can be bitches sometimes…), we finally succeeded :awesome:

So raising the bar a little again, RB status is now at 774 apps (60.5%)

You've all seen countless of pictures of cats squeezed into boxes too small to contain them, by their own doing.

This means that cats are able to use clever compression algorithms to reduce their size in that particular situation.

But which algorithm are they using?

OK, so I said this before, but sometimes I really hate being blind. On the flipside though, when I watch a show or movie with audio description and it's well done, I sometimes get more information than sighted people.

For example, when Apple TV+ released Hijack, many of the discussions I saw on Reddit were confused about which character was which. I personally found it really easy to follow the plot, because the AD writer was really good about keeping on top of all the fast paced action going on throughout. Also for shows like The Mandalorian or really any Marvel movie, it seems like the description company and studio worked together when creating the AD track. To me, they come across as higher quality and feel more like a part of the show / movie than other descriptive tracks I've heard.

Oh honestly...
So I make a mistake during a game of 1000 miles, meaning I get trounced. Then I accidentally shut down the computer when instead, I'm trying to copy files from my downloads. And then my bleeping computer almost goes and puts me back on the shut down button a second time.
Yet, trust @daygar to make me laugh out loud twice in five minutes.
Perfect antidote dot com!

I saw my aunt this weekend. I always admired her growing up: she was a dedicated dancer, bird watcher, traveler, and general arts-enjoyer. I took up ballet and piano because I wanted to be just like her.

I just found out that she started all of those hobbies after she got sober in her 40s, shortly before I was born. Her defining characteristics, in my eyes, have occupied less than half of her life.

It was a nice reminder that you can start a new chapter of your life whenever you’d like.

In an ideal world, assuming I can actually get my mind to cooperate and prioritise one project for next year, what do you think it should be?

@clv1 I haven't written any review. But to quickly answer your questions:
* no critical keys are missing, at least on the North American keyboard layout, and I also have the number pad module. The only missing keys from a full keyboard are the six pack (home/end, page up/down, etc.)
* the keys are fine, though there is no gap between the function keys, and no dot on f4, f8, etc.
* However, the laptop runs hot enough that I prefer to leave it on a table and use a wireless keyboard, instead of holding the laptop on my lap
* Audio quality is fair, once you enable the NVDA or jaws feature that stops the sound system from falling asleep. It's just the standard real tech audio chip that's on pretty much all laptops these days
* Framework updates the driver bundle regularly, and the driver and bios updaters are fully accessible
* The only problems come if you allow Windows Update to install driver updates. Sometimes it installs incorrect drivers and you have to use system restore to roll back an update
* If you live with others: the fans are extremely! loud when the laptop is busy. If someone was trying to, for example, watch TV or listen to music while you were gaming on the laptop, they would get quite annoyed

thanks a lot! I use an USB keyboard with my 14" laptop as well. I would only buy a 16" if I was going to use its own keyboard, otherwise I don't find worth the bigger size. From your description, the keyboard is close to the Dell Inspirons before the Copilot key, except that the Inspiron has the six keys pad, albeit disposed in another layout.

Human memorie is *not* relyable. I know we get told it by all the security fanatics, but I'll take it serious from now on. Been walking through the world as usual, unlocking my phone with the fingerprint as always, and suddanly, when I needed to enter my PIN again, I forgot it. Gone, viped from my head. And no, I don't use my birthday as literally everyone. And it didn't return. Eventually I exceeded the atempts and my phone bricket itself for uh, about 3 hours. The thing is, I hhave written my PIN down, in my Bitwarden vault, and in an encryptet container at home. But I was in anothher city. So I had to return home with no phone, so no checking the train deparchure, no entertainment, no calls or locationsharing, nothing. It worked, thanks to my friends and some nice people on the way, but danm. Gonna take a backup phone more frequently now.

Undoubtedly, and keep in mind that the memories of blind people are often considered fairly good compared to others. Having said that, it's just not enough. If you don't use a PIN or password daily, or at least don't use it often, you will almost certainly forget it. This has been my experience, at least. It's one of the minor reasons I like using my PIN/pass, rather than any other method to access the data.

#39C3 #Signal

Meredith Whittaker (@Mer__edith) has been invited to speak at #39C3 later today. If you make it to the mic in time, here is an interesting question for her: "If I’m put on a boycott list by the Trump regime because I’m openly anti-fascist or oppose war crimes, will you adhere to US laws and block my access to #Signal?"
