With the widespread adoption of generative AI technology designed to predict and mimic human responses, an important question arises: Could AI recreate Wikipedia accurately? @selenadeckelmann Chief Product and Technology Officer at the Wikimedia Foundation, answers that in this blog post.

Lokalne produkty to pszczoły, drewno z lasu, bursztyn, bydło i owce."

This is truly absurd and delightful. The "first human computed shader". You are assigned a pixel, given the equation, and need to show your handwritten manual calculation of its RGB value.

"405 different people have been computing pixels by hand for 4 days"

It's made by Inigo Quilez the undisputed king of shaders.

One of the most under-used features of Mastodon is audio. You can attach audio files to your posts, they can be in MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A or 3GP formats. They can be any length, as long as the file size is under 40 megabytes (some servers may have even higher limits).

I've attached an example audio file to this post, you should be able to play it on most interfaces and apps.

do you have a spec somewhere for this? and what kind of bugs can occur by the "prior art" solutions like cbor, msgpack(and so on)?

msgpack.org has some graphic in the banner on top of the page that gives some insight on how the binary is stored, how did you store it?

Speed and CPU usage will also matter in the end so if you further pursue it some benchmarks would be nice, I like looking at benchmark graphs ;)

I want to enable file uploads on my #XMPP server. (XEP-0363). I'm running #prosody. The docs say "The domain specified in your Component line should ideally be a direct subdomain of your VirtualHost."

Does this mean I cannot use the same domain as my VirtualHost for this? So if my server runs on im.skelly.boo, uploads would have to be on a subdomain for that or a different subdomain entirely?

🤔

in reply to Rotem

There are actually two names involved, the XMPP name and the HTTP(S) name. You can set http_host = "example.com" to reuse the same domain name in the HTTP(S) layer. The XMPP name does not need any DNS since it only needs to be routable inside Prosody and discoverable by local clients. Subdomains are automatically made discoverable, but it can be made manual with disco_items, see prosody.im/doc/modules/mod_dis…

well hell! I can't use audiostrip.co.uk/ until next month, unless I want to pay for the premium access now, which I don't, as I would want that around the fourth of the month. they didn't give me very many free ones. I think five was all I got. ah well. I wait until next month. my first one I will be doing next month is one by Michael W Smith called friends. people have said I sing that one pretty good, so that is what I will be doing first.

I bet my girlfriend that this picture of our cats could get 10 billion boosts on Mastodon.

She said she doesn't believe me. She said there's only 13 million accounts on Mastodon. She said there aren't even 10 billion people on Earth. She said it concerns her that I struggle so hard to comprehend large numbers.

Let's prove her wrong everyone. Boost away and show her just how awesome the Mastodon community is.
