As expected after their customer survey, @protonprivacy released a "AI mail writing bullshit assistant".

On Reddit, two kinds of reactions:

1. The negatives: asking about the privacy, the ecological impact, the money/time spent on this instead of other features.

2. The positives: thanking the developers for not enabling the feature by default.

Despite this, I’m sure people at Proton are convinced that this one the most important/urgent thing the Email world needed.

#Nextcloud: Wer ein paar Plugins installiert, bekommt ein Hauptverzeichnis voller Ordner, die jeweils zu einem Plugin gehören.

Für neue User ist das verwirrend.

Ich fänd gut, wenn diese Ordner alle in einem versteckten Ordner gesammelt würden.

Wer will, kann dann in diesen Ordnern Dinge tun. Aber wer sich dafür nicht interessiert, sieht sie auch erst einmal nicht.

That orchestral arrangement reminds me of an evangelical Christian singer named Sandi Patty whose career peaked in the 80s, so, during my childhood. Yes, she did key changes like that, too. Of course, she's well past her prime now.

Somewhat to my surprise, the rendition you linked *was* Sandi Patty's arrangement. Sounds like that other singer used the same track. I don't actually recall hearing Sandi Patty's version of the national anthem growing up.

@jdking92 Her version of the national anthem wasn't even her most over-the-top song when it came to key changes. As far as I know, that dubious distinction goes to one of her more obscure religious songs, "Unshakable Kingdom", which went through a total of 6 keys (A flat, A, B flat, C, C sharp, and finally E). No, I don't remember that from when I was like 7; I listened to it again more recently.

BTW, someone wrote a complete fan novelization of System Shock, called Free Radical: shamusyoung.com/shocked/ Obviously they made the story their own, filling in details that aren't fleshed out in the game, especially details about the backstory. Regardless, I appreciated being able to enjoy a version of the story aspect of one of the many games I'll likely never be able to play.

Context - someone on the birdside are blaming #crowdstrike on DEl hiring Here's the thing folks. I've been coding 32 years. When something like this happens it's an organizational failure. Yes, some human wrote a bad line. Someone can "git blame" and point to a human and it's awful. But it's the testing, the CI/CD, the A/B testing, the metered rollouts, an oh shit button to roll it back, the code coverage, the static analysis tools, the code reviews, the organizational health, and on and on. It's always one line of code but it's NEVER one person. Implying inclusion policies caused a bug is simplistic, reductive, and racist.
Engineering is a team sport. Inclusion makes for good teams. Good engineering practices makes for good software. Engineering practices failed to find a bug multiple times, regardless of the seniority of the human who checked that code in. Solving the larger system thinking SDLC matters more than the null pointer check. This isn't a "git gud C++ is hard" issue and it damn well isn't an DEl one. 口参O 12,698 417
