Talk by Ilya Zverev about #15minutesCities

Being able to do most of your things in a 15 minutes transit distance from your home is a great quality of life and environment indicator for a city.
He talks about how to measure this metric and identify which cities and neighborhoods are 15-minutes compatible.

Fox News reject Megyn Kelly got burned over her Little House on the Prairie reboot on Netflix tweet,
Megyn Kelly, “If you wokeify Little House on the Prairie, I will make it my singular mission to absolutely ruin your project.”

Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls in the original series,
"Apparently Megyn tweeted (I'm not on that platform) asking that Netflix not “woke-Ify" their Little House remake. Ummm...watch the original again. TV doesn't get too much more “woke" than we did. We tackled: racism, addiction, nativism, antisemitism, misogyny, rape, spousal abuse and every other "woke " topic you can think of. Thank you very much. " #USPol

It's funny. The books and even the show is about how the women keep saving family from the father, who in real life, regardless of the hard working, pull em up by the bootstraps farmer they made him appear, was by all accounts a deadbeat failure with wanderlust, who was lazy.

Software isn't political. That's why American puritanism sip into all sort of word blocklist because swear word are bad.

State Department renames LGBT travel advisories to “LGB” (breaking the old URL in the process).

travel.state.gov/content/trave…

This isn’t only significant because it was intentional. “LGB,” like the tortured legalese around zygotes (the cell thingy that goes into the other cell thingy is the boy!) are signs that they’re importing the UK’s transphobia campaigns of the last 10-15 years, including giving cis queer folks safe harbor on the right, IF they’re anti-trans.

It’s been devastatingly effective.

‘If a billionaire disappears, does the world lose a scientist? No.
An artist? No.
A healer? No.
A teacher? No.
A farmer a horticulturist? No
The world loses nothing of value.
Because billionaires produce nothing.
They consume.
They extract.
They pollute.
They destroy nature.
They build empires on suffering.
Their existence is not a triumph of the system.
It is proof of its failure.’ of Economic Growth (GDP)

Trump said the recent air traffic accident in Washington D.C. was caused by the aviation authorities hiring for diversity, equity, and inclusion (picture 1).

So I was looking for information about this diversity program, and it appears it was launched under a US president in 2019 (picture 2).

You got that right. Trump is blaming a diversity program which was launched under the Trump administration.

Whoops.

Lord Byron's semi-autobiographical tale in verse The Corsair is published by John Murray in London and sells 10,000 copies on this day and over 25,000 in the first month, going through seven editions. Walter Scott is to say of Byron's poetry: "He beat me out of the field in description of the stronger passions and in deep-seated knowledge of the human heart."

This epigraph makes me want to write another book so that I can put it at the beginning:

"While the work of no mortal is perfect, the only defect in this book is its brevity. Its merits are as many as its words. If any man fail to recognize them, let him wisely be silent, and, returning the book to him from whom he borrowed it, pray Allah for better judgment and mourn the hour in which he, unworthy, ever learned to read."
