I think a big part of the problem is that interactive login/non-login shells are a distinction that evolved very early in the history of Unix and the thing it was meant to deal with is almost entirely irrelevant anymore.
brain dump follows: you probably know at least some of this already but i don't think i can make it make sense to people who don't know chunks of it without laying out the whole thing.
back in the 1980s, you'd be working at a text mode terminal - the Linux "text console" login prompt is held over from those days, it looks almost exactly like what you'd have seen - and after you logged in, you were immediately interacting with your shell; no layers in between.
now suppose, at this terminal, you're editing a file in vi and you want to get back to the shell for a minute
there's no ctrl-alt-Fn to get another "virtual console", and there's no ctrl-Z to suspend the running program and go back to the shell. and `screen`-like programs haven't been invented yet.
but what *has* been invented is the vi/ex `:sh` command, which causes vi to start a _nested_ interactive shell and wait for you to exit that shell. when you do, you go back to editing your file. most full-screen interactive programs from that era (e.g. pine, trn) have a similar command.
the login/non-login distinction was originally meant to distinguish the outermost shell from nested shells, because some shell setup (like setting $PATH) only needs to be done in the outermost shell and will automatically inherit to all nested shells, versus other setup things (like setting your prompt) don't inherit and need to be done again for the nested shells
this distinction no longer works as intended because of GUIs - whether logging into a window system runs any shell startup files at all, depends on which window system it is and how it's configured; whether the shell running in a terminal window is a login shell or not depends on the terminal-window program and how *that* is configured; similarly for shells running inside screen-like programs. it's a big mess.
and it's also not really important anymore because control-Z/fg/bg and the ability to have multiple terminal windows / virtual consoles / screen panes open at once have pretty much completely superseded the use of nested shells.
as early as 1995 I remember reading guides that said effectively "the login/non-login distinction is no longer useful. make your .bash_profile just say `source ~/.bashrc` and nothing else, put all your configuration in .bashrc, and forget about it."
(interactive/non-interactive is another whole post and is, unfortunately, still quite relevant)

@cachondo I guess, but I find the idea useful for recurring things at least. I don't use calendaring in my life already, and I tried using reminders but I find it's reminding lacking so maybe that's why I like this idea.
I'd be lost without a calendar. I have a work one, we have a family one, things just all tie together. You can tap any date or time in iOS from an email or sms and, boom. it's stored. We can ask our smart speakers for a rundown or move things. it's just ... one of those incredibly useful things.
