Every night I stream an audiobook from my phone over AirPlay to Sonos speakers for 15/30/45 minutes and then have an automation on my server that takes over and streams sleep sounds (mpd+icecast) to the Sonos speakers.
The only reason I don't use the same mpd+icecast for streaming the audiobooks is that it would be a harder to build that automation as I'd need to keep track of my position. Essentially the audiobook is a playlist, but when it flips over it needs to stop playing, save state, and then switch to new playlist.
Well the AirPlay streaming from my phone is broken now with iOS 26 as it just stops playing at the end of the track for some reason.'
Oh another thing I'd want from the mpd+icecast setup is the ability to play the tracks at 1.1x speed or sometimes a bit more, depends on the style of who is performing the audiobook. It looks like this may be possible with an ffmpeg filter

it's amazing how cordial you can be even after finding out the PoC script *doesn't even invoke curl*, I admire your patience and professionalism. These people need to be publicly shamed for wasting so much time and energy (and to what ends, one may wonder?), and for the test of us to know how much sh*t you have to deal with on a daily basis.
I wonder is it feasible/reasonable to ask that people pay a deposit to make hackerone reports? They get the deposit back plus bounty if it's a real bug, and don't keep it if it turns out to be ai slop.

Bro have you done anything with Surge? Free open source synth that is honestly insane. The main guy who worked on it also has a few other plug-ins and he cares a lot about accessibility. It's one of the few synths that's nearly entirely fully accessible using a screen reader.

@twinspin6 this script is great, but a little messy. It's a single gigantic Elixir script. Automatically fetches and installs its dependencies. You just provide the gitlab URL and admin token as ENVs and set some parameters and it crawls the users and find spammer accounts to delete. It has interactive and automatic modes.

@feld I believe you are discussing a per-query cost, but the scale of inference is a different story. Every. Single. Interaction. With the Omnibar. And that also abstracts away the total cost of training the models, which continued use of them models incentivizes.
Every company has been very shady about their full energy usage, but the scale of data center and power investment tells the tale.

I'm betting on the latter after seeing my friend's custom inference engine written in C with custom Metal/CUDA kernels which can stream the layers and data as it's needed, gives you essentially infinite context, has tool calling, etc
And it runs on a 10 year old Mac Pro. He can run Qwen on it. You can load a 32B parameter model without needing ten of gigabytes of VRAM.
