Why isn't anybody talking about this tactile graphics braille display? I mean, it's half the price of the other one. Still expensive, but mman! Introducing the Dotpad: floridareading.com/products/do…

My wife saw Christmas tree cakes at the store and bought me 3 boxes.

This is true love, folks!

Aww. This is adorable! I wish you many more moments like this one. Also a man's love goes through the stomach, say old people here. :D

shoutout to all the autistic ppl who got maliciously misunderstood as a kid and thought they could fix it by learning to speak with well-researched precision but ended up getting hated even more as a result because now people think you’re just using big words to try to show off

I need to find a new headset for my work. Mine is crapping out . What are some headsets out there with good a good microphone? I am not even looking for
in reply to Linda Coccovizzo

Are you looking for a good headset with a good microphone, or a good headset with an average one? I am sorry I kind of did not get the last bit.

Can anyone here help me find the sign-up page for #Amazon prime? I really do like the convenience.
in reply to Sean Randall

@cachondo The problem for me that I see is that they charge separately for services. I just want the full amazon prime, I don't want to have to pay for things in different packages.
in reply to Nick's world

well there are different packages, certainly in the UK. prime is your free delivery, some things to watch and listen to. prime music, Prime video, they're different things

Hello everyone!

I write my bachelor's thesis about Mastodon as an alternative social network and how its users perceive the platform.

I would be gratful if you would participate in my survey:
(The link is deactivated now)

It only takes 10-15 minutes and would help me a lot.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

In case you want to support me, you can repost the access link, which would also help me.

Thank you!

@menelion Thank you for your participation and your remarks. I do not mainly focus on the migration process in my thesis, but I'll keep your suggestions in mind.
in reply to Paula

It's not about migration as such, it's more about marginalized groups, or, as I prefer the term more, discriminated minorities. When you-know-who bought Twitter, he eliminated the whole accessibility team and also especially prohibited using their API for building new third-party software clients for the network. That's why lots of blind and some sighted people instantly switched to Mastodon. I had my Mastodon account even before, but at the point where my third-party software of choice stopped working, I stopped using Twitter immediately.

had quite a full-on day recording video for work yesterday.
Today I'm on the sofa, slack gently pinging in the background, some folk music down low with snacks to hand.
I think I'm finally finding my feet with this job and realising I can make a go of it.

Product announcements need a 'Skip AI section' button like the 'Skip Intro' button on streaming platforms.

When you make a request and your autistic security engineers immediately say "Are you sure?”:

1) Stop
2) Repent.

in reply to Rabbit (VOTED)

a security engineer’s “are you sure?” and a D&D DM’s “are you sure?” are identical

Really seeing the work ethic today. Everything in my diary is being canceled apart from the fancy dress competitions

Sounds like the Halloween ethic has kicked in today instead! (Smile).

V sobotu 2. listopadu se už tradičně zúčastním 9. ročníku konference OpenAlt pořádané na Fakultě informačních technologií VUT. Hlavními tématy budou otevřená data a software, IT bezpečnost, DIY a IoT. V rámci konference nabídnu hned dvě své přednášky.

👉 V 11:00 Si povíme něco o DSŘ a nejasnostech kolem ní.

👉 Ve 13:00 si projdeme hlavní úspěchy digitalizace za poslední 3 roky, rozjeté projekty ale i chybky, ze kterých je třeba se poučit.

You know you have an old Mac when Homebrew says:

Warning: You are using macOS 12.

We (and Apple) do not provide support for this old version.

It is expected behaviour that some formulae will fail to build in this old version.

It is expected behaviour that Homebrew will be buggy and slow.

Unpopular WCAG opinion:

1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) and 1.4.6 Contrast (Enhanced) should have been renamed to 1.4.3 Text Contrast (Minimum) and 1.4.6 Text Contrast (Enhanced) to mirror 1.4.11 Non-Text Contrast.

(And then I would get rid of 1.4.6 because it’s AAA leaving Text Contrast and Non-Text Contrast, and everything would be simple. But that’s just me.)

ARIA is great. /s

If aria-current had an HTML equivalent, this person probably wouldn’t have found aria-activedescendent and used it wrongly. It’s one of the main reason I want stuff that works well to get HTML equivalents. This should be a no-brainer.

Have you ever heard of an undecillion? It's a truly staggering amount, a number followed by 36 zeros. And Google has just been fined that amount by Russia.

New #introduction!

Hi, I am Stu. I am 24 years old, #blind, #neurodivergent, and live in the Northeast of #England. My online handle is SeedyThreeSixty, and my personal brand is Seediffusion, a mix of Seedy and Rediffusion.
I love to play video games, especially retro games from the 90s and 2000s; my favourite genre is fighting games, especially #StreetFighterII! I basically love anything from the 2000s; it's my favourite decade.
I like many different types of music, including heavy metal, EDM, Hip-hop, eurobeat and house.
I am an all round nerd who loves technology, maths, science, and virtually all other things that geeks and dweebs love.
My signature catch phrase is sweet puberty!

See profile for links to my stuff. :)

@cachondo Yup. When someone migrates, anyone who follows account A will automatically follow account B.

Today is a reasonably sad day.
It is no longer possible to navigate Facebook in the way we could do with the mobile site. Facebook is still usable but it is quite a tough experience to do so.
I don't use it very often, but there are a couple of groups on that platform in which I participate.
I am so glad that, at the moment, X is not like that else I would really be stuck. People who know me will know X is the platform where you will see me most of the time.

The sad part about this is that while we live in good times with regard to accessibility, a company can just snatch accessibility away for many people without a second's thought.
I saw reference on another account to the old Social Eyes program. That was a very convenient way of navigating Facebook, produced by GW Micro.
That was taken due to removal of access by Facebook.
Now, the mobile site has gone. Although that didn't provide everything the primary site offered, it was well marked up and easy for people to manage.

I see reference to the fact that the NFB in the US are working with Meta to improve matters. Of course we will see how that works out, but I believe nothing is improved unless I see it myself.
My view of what makes for good accessibility is rarely in accord with how other people see things.
But on a broader scale, as I say, enjoy every aspect of accessibility while it lasts. You just never know when you may not have it. Tomorrow, you could visit your favourite app and that level of accessibility you are enjoying could be gone due to lack of consultation.
