#MovieThread V: Definitely Not The Final Frontier, Chapter Eleven — November Edition

From 2020 to 2023 I watched 1492 movies. This year so far, I've watched another 388, for a total of 1880 movies.

Numbers still check out.

This month:
* 1945 Best Picture nominees
* Actually starting Elaine May.
* Probably some Star Trek.

Don’t expect Chrome to support keyboard-operable scrolling regions until (maybe) version 132 (anchor link):

Only 14 versions past its target release!

I'll summarize the story for you so you don't have to waste any precious moments of your life reading it: Privileged American couple move to France and find out that France has its own culture **AND LANGUAGE** that they refuse and/or are incapable of learning so they hate it.

This was on the landing page of CNN, just under the election dross. This story of intolerance and incompetence was deemed important enough to be on the landing page. Marked as "featured".

Oh my, this reads so incredibly absurd: in France they have bureaucracy, we do too but it's different because we know it, also no frozen yoghurt.

What the hell.

Imagine, when you move into a different country they speak a different language and do things in different ways.

I'm sure moving is not for everyone and people will miss things, but it sounds like they just wanted to have the same experience, at which point why bother moving.

and here's how we worked on the recent #curl CVE from it first being reported until published earlier today: hackerone.com/reports/2764830

Hackers, #Infosec specialists and #privacy advocates are going to be very important in the months to come. Please read the EFF's surveillance self-defense guide ssd.eff.org/ and reduce as much as possible the information that companies like Google or Amazon collect about you. Fedi admins and moderators, help us keeping the people away from the online agressors. If possible, make sure the services you use are based in Europe. All hands on deck

Apropos of nothing at all, did you know that it is relatively easy for Americans to move to the Netherlands under the DAFT (Dutch American Friendship Treaty)? Check out my immigration lawyer's website:

This last issue is because Android Studio— necessary for Android development— is not a Google product. Rather it's "JetBrains"' IDE for "JetBrain's" version of Oracle's programming language. Injected into this like a kind of parasite are two separate programs that make Android work; one of the two, AGP, is developed by Google, and the other, Gradle, seems to be developed by the community. Gradle and AGP are at eternal war with each other. AGP doesn't know how weird their name sounds to me

the android toolchain is something alright.

I love (/s) constantly having to ask google to fix nondeterministic output produced by their toolchain (or building workarounds in cases that's possible) to make reproducible builds for android work.

half the time it's bugs deep in some compiler code I have no idea how to even find, the other half is me having to explain to them what their own code is doing so they can apply my proposed fix.
