Lebo suvisi a prilis by bilo do oci ak by male neposunuli. 1/2

in reply to Peter Hanecak

in reply to Peter Hanecak

No ja neviem neviem teda... :kekw:
in reply to SuspiciousDuck

Urcite napadlo. A odpovede:
- frustracia, apatia, …

¹ #SmerHlasMafia
² Simecka, Soros, …
³ nejake jednorazove odmeny, potriasacky rukou s Kalinakom v uniforme, …

T.j. vsetko to IMHO beru ako externality, ktore budu znasat ini a teda to je obet, ktoru oni¹ radi prijmu:

Privela nahod v ich prospech IMHO nie je iba nahoda.

Ale ak precenujem ich schopnosti, tak sa kludne budem rad mylit.

Lebo jedna vec je, ked stat demontuju babraci. A ina ked stat demontuju chytri ale zli ludia.

in reply to Peter Hanecak

IMHO o tu rychlost slo, o.i. lebo:

- p. Fico uz ma 60 a sil postupne ubuda (a dochodok v base nie je lakava predstava)
- inych "tahunov" velmi nemaju
- X ich kamosov uz odsudili
- Y dalsich uz k tomu nema(-lo) daleko
- §363 uplatnovany pricasto tiez bije do oci

Github removing all cookie banners turned out working pretty well it seems :neocat_think_googly:

Cool, so my smart TV screen reader has been doing this thing where it cuts out before my AV receiver can actually read what it says, and now the thing is basically useless except as a display.

This is probably fine, both because the thing is a useless cesspool of advertising and surveillance, but also because I've been using my layoff-gifted hardware as a more capable media PC than the TV ever was. So I guess I just need 2 things:

  1. A decent HDMI monitor. At smallish size points, is there a visual reason to prefer a TV screen over a monitor at medium distances? And maybe I need something with CEC so turning on the monitor would also activate the receiver but I don't know and HDMI is confusing AF.
  2. Something with the form factor of a remote control, but not necessarily IR, that I can wire into @homeassistant and/or maybe dbus on the media PC so a button might switch sources, tweak GNOME desktop audio settings, etc.

Any thoughts?

in reply to Nolan Darilek

I wonder if you could handle TV control through HDMI-CEC? I'm not sure if a monitor will do that. It'll give you much lower latency than a TV, but it offers few other advantages especially if your priorities are size and remote control
in reply to Pepper The Vixen🏳️‍⚧️🦯

Ah, so latency is a factor too. I have something like a 32-inch TV now because I just don't need bigger, and I'm guessing that's where most monitors top out size-wise?

I'll probably end up going this route anyway and cobbling something together, just trying to figure out all the issues I'll hit on the way.

iOS 18.2: New features coming to your iPhone (other than AI) 9to5mac.com/2024/11/15/ios-18-…

No post editing, no hashtag lists, centralised.
Come on, it's not a step forward from Twitter at all. Join Mastodon instead, it has a lot more features.

in reply to Tamás

Yeah, like, bluesky peoples, having to pay for all the features masto has for example. That's what I meant.

I am seriously wondering what to play, or not play, in terms of games. I currently have absolutely nothing on my list. I guess it's time to try and fix Stardew, or be lazy and just browse masto. LOL

I love how internationally diverse my followers are. I just had someone follow me from Edmonton, which is next on my list of provinces to visit. AND someone from Ireland, which is also on my to-go list if I can swing it. Then there's Amanda over in Australia. I'm meeting all these cool new people on Masto. Like, it's not just people following me from other platforms. I am so here for it.
in reply to Rosalin Kellyanna

This is awesome! Also, I guess I can't appreciate well how many international followers I have, because everyone is not from over here, so it's a normality for me, but it's good to see someone else's viewpoint.

🔗 Seems like people are moving around between social media apps so new profile link options now available on your account settings page: You can set Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads accounts by revealing the "More Links" section. All of these links will appear on your profile page.

Links added will have "rel=me" inserted on your profile so you can get a green check mark on your mastodon profile!

in reply to itchio

One more update: The `fediverse:creator` metatag is now inserted into game and blog post pages that you have authored when you assign a Mastodon username to your account.

This will enable itch.io link embeds on Mastodon to show author attribution of your fediverse account. Learn more here: blog.joinmastodon.org/2024/07/…

You must opt-in to the domains that are eligible for attribution from Edit Profile > Public Profile > Verification (and scroll to the bottom, add itch.io and your own subdomain)

"I am excited to announce the stable 0.1 release"
As far as I can tell this was meant entirely seriously. I guess 0ver.org is gaining traction.

Based on CGI data from #NASA, that was interpreted frivolously to an 8x8 km area and then sclupted over to add detail that was missing from the original textures.

TIL: @tuxedocomputers released #Linux #kernel drivers for their machines under the #GPLv3, which makes it impossible for competitors and distros to ship them pre-compiled, as that license is incompatible with the #LinuxKernel's #GPLv2 only license.

They did this purposely, allegedly to "keep control of the upstream pacing" – and want to re-license the code while upstreaming.

6/ To follow up:

There are now patches under discussion upstream to '"teach the [#Linux #Kernel's] module loader that these modules [from @tuxedocomputers ] are proprietary despite their declaration to be GPLv2 compatible "until the legal stuff is sorted out". "'

6/ To follow up once more:

@tuxedocomputers relicensed all full inhouse code in their driver package to GPLv2+ : gitlab.com/tuxedocomputers/dev… 👍

They are working on doing the same for the remaining drivers.

They also submitted a updated version of the patchset making the #Linux #Kernel's module loader treat some of the modules as proprietary; the list of modules handled that way is much shorter now:

Using Explorer Patcher (github.com/valinet/ExplorerPat…) has just revolutionized my Windows 11 experience, now that I got it to work, finally after a year of not looking at it and tossing it in the dustbin.
I personally had a hard time clicking a blank area of my taskbar with a screen reading tool, so if you are using one, an alternative is to run this command from your Run (Windows +R) dialog:
C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher\ExplorerPatcher.amd64.dll",ZZGUI
after running, a window titled "properties" should open. Use up and down arrow to choose a setting, left and right to change one.
I personally enabled the shell integration, simple tab switcher, and in advanced, definitely "Enable SysListView32 for Explorer views" - this will give you the older "folder view list view" type view when browsing lists of folders, and it does speed up the arrowing back to how I remember it. Be sure to also check the "control interface" setting and if you want the older Windows 7 menu bar back, choose "Windows 7 command bar."
All of this does make Explorer Patcher worth it, especially if running on non-insider builds. Highly recommended for anyone fed up with Windows 11's bloat and slowness.
Side note: I could not get it to cooperate well with my Open Shell once I reverted to the older Start Menu, so I've removed that for now.

Note that instead of clicking the empty area on the task bar, you can also just press the appications key on the Type here to search button, and then that will have a properties item at the bottom allowing you to get to that screen.

Computer programming is what happens when you wish “I want to learn something new every day” on the monkey’s paw

Alright I have to admit, modern Java actually isn't all that bad.
in reply to Chris 🌱

Yeah, it did get better.

Same for C#; we finally got to upgrade some projects on my current teams to .NET 8 and the linter prompts to make things nicer are routinely making me feel a bit better about life 😁

Still often find myself wishing I was working in something else. The languages improve but the ecosystem still drags it all down.

The next version of EN 301 549 (4.1.1, to be released next year) is nearing mature draft stage. It will include reqs of WCAG 2.2 and support the European Accessibility Act.

After applying to 4 universities, I received 3 offers—RMIT, CSU, and ECU. I’ve decided to go with CSU as their honours and masters programs are fully online. Since I’m also interested in sociology, I’ll be starting with the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology). The best part? I only need to study for just over 12 months because I received credit for several subjects from my previous studies.

I start next week with Foundations of Psychology 1 and 2. I already have access to the materials, and it looks absolutely amazing. Many of the concepts feel familiar since they align closely with neuroscience. Thank you all for your well wishes as I explore this new direction!

To all my writer friends that use MS Word - Microsoft has turned their AI bits and bots on to automatically go through anything done via Word.

Here's how to turn it off.

Then install LibreOffice on your computer and use Writer instead of Word.

“What is a man? Is he defined by things like morphology or longevity? If form alters content—that is, if the shape of the container fundamentally influences what it contains—what will it mean to society if a man no longer resembles a man? If those things which have always driven us—birth, aging and death—are altered or eliminated, will it make us into something new? If a man need not fear death, will that make us more human than our ancestors, or less?"

so @pooch754 and I have been thinking about something that has us curious. I know they have all these glasses out there that can supposedly make your life easier, because they have cameras on them, and in some cases, you can talk to them. Our question is, what can these glasses do that your phone can't do? It just seems like it's just one more peace of equipment that you would have to cary with you to get what you want done, when you have your phone right with you, that seems to be able to do the same things. Can someone explain this to us?
in reply to RaineyDay

your phone is in your hand, your glasses are on your head. SO many blind people struggle with the concept of lining up a camera to read print, I foresee it being far more sensible to say 'point your face at what you want read'.
There's also the aspect of needing to hear your phone whilst you're operating it, which can require a wired setup or introduce wireless lag.
And then there's the idea of timing, if you want to capture something in motion or quickly. Screen reader users are typically slower at unlocking their devices, opening an app and triggering a capture.
in reply to RaineyDay

They are not meant to replace a phone, similarly to a watch. They are convenient and discrete, and you can use them hands free. Also if you record a video it's from a first person perspective, whatever you are supposed to see it records. Same way with scanning, money recognition, etc.
