@troed There are around 1000 atproto PDSes, and anyone can run a relay (with sufficient resources): whtwnd.com/bnewbold.net/3kwzl7…. Meanwhile indie relay impls like git.lavender.software/cerulea/… are popping up. Even if there's currently one big instance, the proto is still decentralised.

Canada's #CopyrightAct allows circumvention of technological protection measures if done for purposes of "maintaining or repairing a product, including any related diagnosing," and "to make the program or a device in which it is embedded interoperable with any other computer program, device or component." As iFixit points out, neither amendment do anything to expand access to tools needed to circumvent TPMs.

Almost all ticket vending machines of the municipal transport company in Amsterdam will stop working on 1 January 2025 and will be removed later.
The reason is quite interesting: end of software support for the card payment terminals. 🙄

Sure you can now check in and out with your bank card directly, but if you want a day ticket, or discounted ticket, all you're left with is the mobile app.

A ticket vending machine titled Tickets Tram Bus Metro with a big sticker saying that this machine will stop working on 1 January 2025 and will be removed.

OK... Either I am just super late to the party, or this just isn't very widely known / discussed in the macOS #VoiceOver community.
As of macOS Sonoma, remotely controlling a Mac using Screen Sharing is actually very much accessible using the High Performance Mode connection option. VO needs to be enabled on the Mac being controlled, which will result in VO, as well as any other audio being routed over the network to the controlling Mac. @AppleVis

Listening to the @LWorksGames audio game streaming marathon (lerven.me/marathon2024/), and because I'm a total nerd, I'm curious about the programming language and game engine (if applicable) used by each game. The first game, Ball Bouncer, is apparently using .NET in ahead-of-time compiled mode. I wonder if there's a .NET audio game engine analogous to BGT or NVGT, or if they rolled their own, including self-voicing UI.

The UK has an opportunity to do something popular in loads of countries, whilst learning from the mistakes many of those places have made. I can't agree with the whole slippery slope argument here, not when so many people are literally crying out for this. There are safeguards needed, people in abusive relationships and without mental capacity need to be protected. But so to does the dignity of those who have reached the point when it is their choice and their want to go on thir terms.

In 2015 I spent a couple of weeks in Singapore and I still remember sitting at a café and implementing the feature that merges multiple messages into the same bubble.

Today this feature has been removed from #Conversations_im in favor of moving the bubbles closer together. This gives better control over per messages actions such as sharing, quoting or adding a reaction.
