:awesome:

Learning Blind Tech Episode 22 A Few AI Tools

In this episode, I demonstrate a few highlights of some AI tools I use on my iPhone. Demonstrations will be of: Seeing AI Meta live AI Aira Access AI Invision's Ally This is by no means a comprehensive look at these tools and there are many features not covered that could be in future episodes

Hi everyone, I'm happy to say that thanks to @Rickster1963 providing me with some extra data, I am now hosting a complete copy of the Blind Geek Zone audio archives prior to late 2012 including descriptions and author credits! In this case, what's currently hosted is a near exact mirror of the original audio page that used to be displayed on the website (the page said new in 2011 then showed a podcast from Nov 2012 so I fixed that). I'm so glad we finally have all of these archived in one place! The older archives are here: samtupy.com/bgz/pre2013

Přesně to dělají.
Protože licence a odlišnost dat. Not so easy. :(
in reply to Miroslav Suchý

GNOME's default Image Viewer (Loupe) no longer accepts AI generated contributions. You can read more about the reasons for my decisions in my discourse post.

I'm planning to adopt the same policy for the rest of the projects I maintain. And I think others should as well.

for me it's a major benefit that you're actively communicating here, it shows a culture of embracing the open source community. There are some inconveniences in the mail app (search, labels, conversation view, different protocol than PGP) but overall it's a great product that I recommend. Mainly because of your openness and responsiveness, also on Github, and the improvements you keep making to the app. And I love that you keep sustainability in mind too. Keep up the good work!
in reply to Sundew

@sundew Not sure why this isn't working. If I look up Neil Gaiman, also on .social, I see the green checkmark. I have refreshed our local copy of the Tutanota account but it still doesn't seem to be showing up. I do see there is a new bugfix release for Mastodon, but it doesn't mention anything about the green check mark. There's also a step in the upgrade process where I clear the site-wide cache so I will check again after I have finished the upgrade.

@theropologist When I inspect the HTML from tuta.com, I don't see rel="me" on the link to their mastodon account.

So, now I think I understand why beige isn't recognizing it - but I don't understand why mastodon.social does! 🙃

in reply to Tuta

The verification isn't working quite right - it's ok on mastodon.social, but not other servers (infosec.exchange and beige.party, for example)

This might be because the HTML code for your verification link lacks the rel="me" attribute, which is important according to some instructions?

Here's the snippet of your page's source code:

So, practically. If Canada were to join the EU, what steps would be required? We'd obviously need to apply, like other countries. Certainly greater presence in Brussels.

Would we need to adopt the Euro? I'd think so, but not sure if that is a good idea.

We'd have to upgrade a lot of our standards

It is called Enlargement. Seems appropriate for the era we are in.

Tech of the Ancients

I have this incredible kitchen scale for over 20 years now. It has a swipeable screen and does not need recharging.

You put sth on it, then touch the screen with your finger and swipe right and can measure whatever you put in next.

I do not fully understand the math behind it and how it uses the gravitational fields and atom bonds. But it works reliably and it's always on. Truly magic.

It does not show news and weather, though.💁🏻‍♂️

✏️ New blog post: Views on views (looking for feedback)

In AGWG, the working group that makes WCAG, we have been working on potentially changing what is “web page” today to something like “view”, so that the standard works better in other contexts, like native apps and VR.

I gathered some, ahem, views and added my own, feedback much appreciated!

OK yall, those missing shakes from Sonic have arrived. Version 2025.5 of the bestspeech addon fixes the static problem I mentioned in my last couple of updates. It's recommended to update to this version so you don't get startled by a random burst of white noise when using bestspeech with rate boost, especially if you do not use NVDA with wasapi. github.com/samtupy/b32tts_wrap…
